ECM Replaced

I have a 2004 Titan with 109,000 miles on it. I was going on a trip, and my ABS, B-LSD, and Check engine light all came on. I felt the gas pedal get heavy and lost my RPMs. I pulled over to the side of the road. I shut off the truck pulled out the manual and followed the instructions to remove the ABS light. The truck started, and everything sounded fine, but all the warning lights were still on. I put it in drive and I couldn't get it to go over 1000 RPMs.

I called my mechanic 200 miles away, and he had me check for melted wires under the hood and under the truck. Asked if everything was running fine, which it was. A guy stopped and asked if I needed help and hooked up his computer to read the codes, and cleared them. Restarted the truck and the warning lights were still there. So I had to have it towed to Krenzen Nissan in Duluth, MN. They hooked up the computer and said I needed a new ECM.

For the diagnostic, labor and the ECM they said $900.

So I'm kind of in a bad situation because they are 3 hours from my house so I have to have them do it. Does this sound like the right diagnosis? Cost sound reasonable? Thoughts?

Re: ECM Replaced

There have been ECM (ECU) Failures. Cost is what I'd expect for a replacement. Big chunk of change for sure. I'd ask them what points to the ECM being bad, as opposed to an ECU Relay or IPDM Failure, which is far more common.

Re: ECM Replaced

Yeah ecu relay. Even a whole new ipdm only set you back $100 oppose to a new ecu.
