Yeah, bad cats can lead to bad engines, so I would definitely take care of that.

Do you think I could have damaged my engine driving it in limp mode, with the bad cats?

To be more specific, were you serious about leading to a bad engine, or were you joking?

If you suck cat materiel in to the engine then ... BOOM... and replace your engine.

No this is not a Joke.

Re: IPDM - ECU relay problems, symptoms and solution.

Do you think it's possible I've seriously damaged my engine? I've really only driven it about 25 miles in protect mode, to get it to the first dealership.
I'm having the headers and new cats installed this weekend, but if it's very possible I've damaged the engine, I might want to rethink my strategy.

Re: IPDM - ECU relay problems, symptoms and solution.

Everyone knows the ECM relay has been recalled correct? I paid 575.00 to get it replaced a year ago and now they recalled it in Dec. 2010. Waiting on my check from nissan for the work done and tow truck.

Re: IPDM - ECU relay problems, symptoms and solution.

So just to confirm with everybody; this issue has had an official recall? Everyone is saying it became official in December '10? I took my truck to the dealer in Dec. sometime in the first week after having experienced the truck stall twice and seeing something on the news about a recall for that issue, however, the service manual at the Nissan dealership in Temecula told me there was no official recall and that it could be 6-9 months before it was official? My truck stalled and would not start this evening, and after checking several things I swapped the relay's as per the quick fix thread(only to get my truck off the road and into my driveway as it died about about 300 feet from my garage) and it ran, but ran very ruff which I have never experienced before.

Re: IPDM - ECU relay problems, symptoms and solution.

It's an official recall. I received my letter in December and had it taken care of a week later.

Re: IPDM - ECU relay problems, symptoms and solution.

I had to take my truck to the dealer to get and extra key made and they said that I had a recall pending.... It was to replay the ECU relay. You guys might wanna check to see if your truck needs this recall performed. Hope this helps
