I'm hearing whining under the hood.

I think it's coming from under the hood, sometimes im hearing a whining noise almost like some sort of pump or something when in park with the engine on. it goes away and come back randomly , anyone know what this could be? it's coming from the driver side.

You could have a squeeky belt, but i'm not sure unless i saw the engine itself.

Well could be a ton of things is it a squeel or a whir? a Whir could be the electric fan coming on. squeel could be a power steering pump, the AC condenser or even a water pump. Though it could just be a loose serpentine belt. Best thing is to have the hood up and listen for the noise and see if you can chase it down to one part of the engine compartment or the other, then maybe someone can give you a more refined answer.

It's probably the serpentine belt, but to make sure, lightly squirt some water on the underside of the belt while it is making the noise. If the noise immediately disappears, then replace the belt. I replaced two OEM serpentine belts with a Goodyear Gatorback because of a cold start-up whining rattling sound. That was three years ago, and all is quiet.

Doesnt sound like a belt, ive heard belts squeel before but it's not like that, not the fan cause i already learned what that sounds like but sounds like something electrical trying to engage or something, can fuel injectors make noises like that?
