ummm..should my halfshafts be chewed up like this?

are these supposed to look like this. I pulled these out of my diff. As usual the halfshaft popped out of the front diff. This is the aftermath. Wore a groove in one of the gears as well. Looks like it all needs replaced. Theres enough metal shavings in there to recycle and build a new halfshaft!

Yeah, it doesn't matter whether you are in 2wd or 4wd, the shafts continue to spin as long as the front wheels are turning, so they do tend to get chewed up.
They upgraded the diff with extra ribbing on the housing and to make it harder for the shafts to pop out, apparently in 2006.

of course it was in 2006 since I own an 05.
