Exclamation Tailgate Problems

This a problem I haven't seen here yet, so I thought I'd give everyone a heads up. This past weekend while washing the beast, I went to hop in the bed so I could clean the back glass. As soon as I got on the tailgate I heard a loud CRACK from the drivers side of the tailgate. When I looked I noticed that the bolt that is attached to the bed that connects to the support cable appered to be bent. On closer inspection, I could see exposed threads, so I tried to tighten it back up. Sure enough, as soon as the bolt would get snug, it would get a little loose and spin around again... stripped threads.

I'm taking it by the dealer today, so we'll see what happens.

Oh to those of you that have had the bedliner peeling issues... did your liner fade badly as well? Mine hasn't peeled or bubbled yet, but seems to be fading badly. It's already turned an ashy grey color.

Thanks

Well, looks like no one else has this issue. Anyway, the dealership fixed me up. They had to pull the tail lamp and put a nut on the back of the bolt. So far so good.

I wouldn't be so quick to assume no one else had this same issue. You only posted it yesterday. It is probably a safe bet that a majority of those that read this forum are on vacation this weekend.

I am glad the dealer fixed the problem however.

I kinda of had the same problem...I had a line-x bedliner sprayed in and when I bought a bed extender it bolts into the tie downs in the rear...well almost all the bolts were stripped where the guys had reinstalled the tie downs after spraying in the bedliner. I had to do the same thing and put nuts behind it. My old nissan had nuts welded in place behind where attachment points were because the metal is so thin but on the titan it doesnt look like they did this. Maybe I should call Nissan and complain...shouldnt be a hard fix...

Yeah, it was an easy fix. I bet it didn't take the service tech 10-15 min to do it. I suspect we may have to do the same to the other side in the future.
