AC will not turn off in the Armada..

Well.. 120 miles into our new Armada and the woman tells me that the AC will not turn off...

None of the AC buttons are working or changing the temps etc.. It seems as if the button to raise the fan speed from hi to low might be broken. You can feel it click when you push down but when you push up you feel nothing... The display on the Navigation screen shows that none of the buttons are doing anything..

Not life or death but still aggrivating being that it is brand new... Has anyone encountered this problem?

Shawn

There have been posts that the AC won't turn off if you run the defrost (which starts the AC) for more than one minute and then shut off the defrost, the AC keeps running. But this is a known "feature" not a failure of the type you have. I haven't seen any posts of this nature.

Thanks for the info!! I appreciate it....

I managed to keep wiggling the button until it let me have control of the AC again.. It seems the upper part of the button is broken because now that I have the AC fan set to the lowest setting, it won't let me raise it.

I'm glad to hear this is isolated... To be honest.. I don't know how to run 1/2 the things in the car.

Depending on how you have the vents set (defrost, max a/c, etc.) the A/c will stay on. If it's on max a/c it won't shut off even if you hit the "a/c" button.

This vehicle is set up a little differently- it definitely helps to read the manual, believe it or not. I'm one of those guys that hates manuals, but it was quite informative.

Did you get a good deal on your Armada? Post some pics!

I'm reading it right now!

I think you guys are correct about why it wouldn't turn off... However, I do believe the button is broken cause I can't increase the fan speed.. It used to click and now it doesn't... No sweat! I'll run it by the dealer tomorrow.

We got the one we wanted and they paid off our trade-in which was more of a deal in itself.....

Here is some pics..

Update..

As stated previously.. The button to increase fan speed is defintely broken....

Whenever the car is turned off and then back on, the AC is at full blast and can't be turned off.. It seems after 10 minutes or so of driving that the controls come back and I am able to adjust the AC.. However, the increase fan button doesn't work.

I am thinking that the button is stuck causing the system to reset everytime I drive the car, which is why it's at full blast... Then when I hit a bump or something it loosens and gives me control.

I got an appointment for monday.. I hope it's just a switch and not wiring!

Let us know if that solves your problem. I have noticed a number of times when I shut the A/C off, it stilll blasts cold air. Today it was 90 degrees outside and I turned the A/C off before I put the car in drive (it was not on A/C max, or defrost). It still blew cold air the whole time. I also tried to shut it off while sitting at idle waiting for a friend (because I got tired of listening to the "relief valve" noise). Even after shutting it off it still made the noise and blew cold air.

I've had that same exact behavior. I've gotten used to the hissing, but was surprised to hear it when the A/C was supposedly off and only the vent fan running.

They replaced the entire control panel for the A/C... Everything works great and like normal now. I can tell the switch is working correctly now and I have full control.
