Let me tell you about my truck...

Don't get me wrong, I love my truck. But when (if ever) I get it back from the dealer I'm probably going to trade it. Nothing like taking a bath on a trade when your vehicle is only 6 months old.

Anyway, I bought it in FEB. Took delivery from the dealer with a big 2 ft long crack in the winshield. Dealer said they would order a new one and I could bring it in in 2-3 days to have it fixed. No big deal, windshield repair is easy, right? Well, after 2 weeks to get the back ordered rubber seal, 4 different winshields that were broken on arrival, it is finally fixed. Not the dealers fault, just typical NISSAN corporate loving care.

3 weeks later I roll down the passenger window and it only goes halfway back up. After wrestling with it for 20 minutes while eyeing the approaching T-storm I get it back up. Take it to the dealer who says, yep, it jumped track and have to replace the window seals and trim.

So, last week, 5 months after the windshield is replaced, I have water starting to leak out of the headliner when it rains. I take it to the dealer and NISSAN takes to days to get a tech to return their call. The water appears to be leaking out of a pinhole in the welds at the front of the cab where the windshield seal is, just above the console. Water drains into the console and runs out of the overhead lights. NISSAN tech wants pictures so that they can think about it. Add to this the peeling paint on the steering wheel, the squeeky back seat, misaligned tailgate that bent the latch, the bed storage door that is creased because the latch is busted, the seatbelts that only reel in until you are strangling, interior arm rests that are misshapen, exterior door handles that stick, and various other things you can see why I am so happy.

Did I mention that the thing drives and rides flawlessly? If I had paid only $18000 for it and it was a work truck I would think it was the greatest vehicle ever built. But as a $30000 luxury truck this thing sucks.

By the way, Bill Ray Nissan in Orlando, FL is awesome. Highly recommended. If you need service they are great. Unfortunately, if you have a Titan, you probably need service.

Just Frustrated.

I wish I could agree. I absolutely love this truck. And the dealer is addressing most of my issues. It's just that these things shouldn't BE issues on a vehicle at this price. And even more annoying is the "we could give a sh*t" attitude that Nissan corporate gives you. By avoiding addressing customer complaints and issues I feel like they are trading all their future sales for current profits. Nothing like pissing off people who have already voted their confidence in you with their wallets.

Not in my lifetime would I ever take delivery of a vehicle with a windshield cracked. Makes you wonder how the windshield got cracked?? Somewhere along the line before the truck became yours, it got tweaked. Your leaking problem is probably a result of the great service you recieved at the dealer by an inept tech installing the new windshield.

sorry buzzjake,
I did the same. Didn't take quite as big a hit on trade in as I thought. The Nissan
is exactly what I wanted in a 1/2 ton, I think it is the best concept on the market. Just too many problems and I had terrible service to boot. It is very unNissan to me. I had 3 hardbodies and used them for work, not a single problem. Oh well, hopefully they will have it all ironed out at some point. Did I mention mine drove and rode flawless too. :-) - good luck!

Love it. Only had it 2 weeks, but haven't found any fluid levels low or stripped bolts. Still too early to tell reliablity. The Toyota is very smooth and quite. Will miss the power of the Titan!

Tundra will go to 282hp using VVTI for 2005 with 5 speed tranny. I don't really need that much. Tundra probably not an option for those with heavy towing needs 7,000 plus.

No, the cracked windshield was no big deal. It just got hit while on the delivery truck and cracked. No big deal if replaced properly. And I have no reason to think it wasn't. And there is no way you can know if the truck you drive wasn't the same way when the dealer got it. I just happened to be there when the trucks were being unloaded and saw a color and package I liked. The windshield was replaced in FEB and the leak didn't show up till last week. I was just at the dealer and they have the windshield out so that they can ensure that it isn't the problem and also to get a better look at the spot where it appears the leak actually is. Like I said before, the dealer has been great. Did I mention I'm in the Army and the dealer doing all this work wasn't where I purchased it? So, I have no complaints about that. And they have ordered all the parts and I am sure will fix most if not all of the problems to my satisfaction. My complaint is that this many problems should have never existed to begin with. And that Nissan corporate doesn't want to admit them. I am an understanding guy and mistakes do happen. The true test of customer service is how you deal with them

And yes, I love my truck and being without it for the last 6 days is killing me.

Where are you stationed? I'm Army Reserve, man getting ready to go back to Iraq/Kuwait, again. This time for 14 months. I'm pretty pissed so getting ready to buy a Titan for the hell of it, why not right? Have you done a tour over there yet? If so, where at? I started out in Masirah,Oman then a month later, in Djoubouti, Africa, then to Kuwait, then that last few months were BIAP and up and down the MSR. They are killing us in the Reserves. I left active Duty in 1998, but have done more TDY and ADT than I have ever expected. Needless to say, my wife is not happy...nor am I. So, it's time for a self gratifying large $$ purchase.

where did you hear this about the 2005 tundra--I may being in the market if I keep having nick nacks--I need 300 horses though. how does that 240 feel to you? or is it worth the fact that you know your tundra will always work? what is vvti??

netranger:

I'm a Reservist in Orlando. Been in for 15 years, did Desert Storm while a private on active duty. I just received a direct commission last fall and got back from OBC 3 weeks ago. My unit (combat engineers) was called up last fall but ended up on stateside duty for 9 months. I'm getting cross leveled to a light engineer battalion and taking over as platoon leader for deployment this fall. So, yeah, as a reservist I've been on active duty for 14 out of the last 18 months and I'll be leaving again in 3 or 4 months. Dontcha love the Army?

Yeah, the Titan was my welcome home, happy commissioning present to myself. I'm hoping that this deployment will at least pay it off.

The 240 is fine for me, but you can tell the difference after driving a Titan. VVTI is variable valve timing with intelligence (from what I heard). A better way to optomize the timing of the valves at different rpms. If you are going to need 300hp, then either you would need to add SC to the tundra now (very costly but a TRD option) or wait for Tundra's bigger V-8 and there is speculation on 2006 or 2007 on that one. But as someone else responded www.tundrasolutions.com has some more information. Also want to add decision to trade my titan on the Tundra was based on 2 areas: 1 the many nick nacks and 2. Very poor service. If I would have had good service - would probably kept the Titan.
