Question Odometer

Anyone know if dealer service can (re)calibrate odometer/speedometer? Mine is inaccurate. Checked it on the highway (using mile markers) on the way to work, and after traveling exactly 13 miles, the tripmeter only showed 12.5. I started from a dead stop on side of the road right next to a marker, stopped right next to last marker. I think the difference may be from the larger off-road tires and computer was calibrated for the non-off road package tires. Speedo is off too. At 60 mph indicated, cruise set, flat and straight highway, one mile should take 60 seconds. Only takes me 58.6 avg., meaning I'm actually traveling faster than 60 mph.

I am sure they can recalibrate or put a different pinion in there...but the error right now is in your favor for the most part :-)

Your odometer reads approx. 4% low, so does mine. KC LE std. tires (no tow or OR). Tested on one 100 mile stretch and two 50 mile stretches accross Arkansas and Texas. Odometer reads 4% low.

I agree with chazz, your truck will show less mileage than it really has. I wouldn't have it fixed.

Thanks guys. I hadn't thought of like that. I'll leave it alone, show fewer miles, just need to remember I'm getting a wee bit better gas mileage than calculated (like maybe 0.5 mpg).

It thinks it is a XE 245/75 17

It sounds like it was told it was a base model XE with 31.4" tires-245/75 17 instead of a LE with OR or 18" wheels. The OR 285/70 17 and the 265/70 18 both calculate out to 32.6".Sammy Sandbag has checked the OR 17 and it is actually 33". 33/31.4=1.05 or 5% 32.6/31.4=1.038 or 4%.Right in the range you guys are getting.I had a Tundra with the same problem-incorrectly programed at the factory.Charlie
