Well after going 30000miles I finally have a problem, the transmission is leaking fluid, took it to the service dept., they kept it one day, said it was the front seal went bad, about a week later noticed fluid on the ground again, took it back to the dealership, they have it there now, seems nissan's people want to take a look at it. The dealership did change the seal I know that for a fact from a surprise visit I made and seen the tranny on the floor, they notified nissan about the problem this morning, they think the bell housing may be warpped, seems to me if thats true it would be leaking from day one, don't know if any one else had this problem yet or not, it just may be something to check once in a while. This thread is not at all bashing the dealership work on the truck, just wondering why nissan wants to look at it,didn't seem like a big deal.

this kinda happend to me w/ a 2000 honda civic w/ 30000 miles on it. what happened was it was leaking a mixture of oil and tranny, mosly tranny right after i had the dealership change the oil. the cure was a torque converter seal and rear main engine seal, the dealership didnt say why this happened but on other forums people most likely said that the dealership prob overfilled the oil causing them to blow out. so did this happen after a dealership oil change by any chance?

You have 30K miles on your Titan and you only joined our forum in May? Shame on you for not joining us earlier.
Seriously, sorry to hear about the problems. Hope it gets cleared up quickly so you can get back to adding more miles.
Only had the truck since Feb.20, didn't know this forum existed until May when I was searching another Nissan forum somebody posted a link to here. Did get a update on the tranny fluid, the dealership contacted Nissan about the leak and they are sending them a new tranny for my truck, seems the engineers at Nissan want it back there to see why this happened.

How the heck did you put 30K miles on your truck in 5 months?
300 MILES A DAY 5DAYS A WEEK

No thanks, I am spending almost $60 a week myself. I put on at least 500 miles a week myself in ugly stop and go traffic. And that does not take into account all the time I spend sitting at a call with the engine running, costing me more money.
I wouldn't want your gas card. That is some serious driving. Spending 5-6 hours a day driving a Titan for work has to be fun.
The best part of all this driving is the company I work for pays the gas card.

I am a gear head of sorts. The front seal on a transmission going bad are usually one of three things.
1. The input shaft had a bur/imperfection, deteriorated the seal over time. Rare instance for foreign cars, the Japanese use lower grade steels (IMO), but their machining and metallurgy processes are superior to domestic (IMO).
2. The input shaft was not lined up correctly with the torque converter. IE warped bellhousing. If this is the case, the seal is the least of your worries after it being driven for 30k miles, and you are of good fortune with the new tranny. This is rare considering the manufacturing processes these days and you would have probably noticed some noise well before the seal going bad.
3. The variables that are just oddities. Seal not up to specs or the seal wasn't getting any lubrication and it burned up. The most common of the oddities is that it was a hot day, the tranny overheated, causing too much back pressure on the seal and allowing ATF bypass. If this was the case, the seal may have been leaking long before you noticed it. IE insidious in nature, and did you check the fluid level before you took it to the dealer? The fluid level would have been an indicator to how long it had been leaking.
Any rate, I know these are all after the fact details to your problem. Just making the post on an informative basis. Good luck, and glad that Nissan has the 5yr 60K PT warranty.
