Rear Diff is wasted, not good, not good at all.

My Titan has been in the shop since yesterday, only because they had staffing problems I'm told, but I just got word from the service mgr that they found a tooth on the magnetic drain plug, and the oil was wasted. As I stated before, I had the rear diff flushed and re-filled on our towing trip at 4052 miles because the Jiffy Lube guys said it was brutal when they opened it. When I got home my mileage read 5650, so 1300 miles later and now **** is breaking apart and the oils is sludge. Of course the ****y little know it all service clown crowed that "he doesn't trust Jippy Lube" when I told him what happened in Denver. I wonder what the little former shoe salesman is saying now. Sorry, but these assholes act like you don't know what you're talking about when you voice your concerns over a particular issue, and then when you try to get info out of them on what the problem is, they give you the "we've never seen this problem before" act.
When I called, their master Jeddi Service monkey was on the phone to Nissan to find out what they should do next.
Can you say "PUT A REAR DIFF IN THAT IS DESIGNED RIGHT??"
Thanks, I feel better now.

The thing that tees me off is I work with a bunch of Chevy/Dodge/Ford guys and I really went out on a limb I think, and I would have thought that Nissan would have made sure that the most integral part of the towing aspects of their NEW rig would be tight. My F-150 buddy said he thinks it's the pitch on the gear teeth, which would be a design problem, not material. All I know is I'm going to lobby for a free fog light kit when I finally get to pick it up.

problems do happen on ANY vehicle. i sold cars for years and i don't care what kind of car it is sooner or later some are going to have problems. as long as the problems get fixed that's what matters. don't fret to much over your titan problem because there have been plenty of the chevys, fords, and dodges with problems . there will always be problems with every make of vehicle. you have to figure there's hundreds of thousands of vehicles made each year and they all have moving parts, sooner or later a bad part is going to turn up.

Thanks Rawze and 1Titan

I'm better now. I stopped by and they are getting a "new improved" diff that will be here Thursday-ish. I know all vehicles have their problems, and I must admit, I am one anal, perfectionist SOB. I just hate having this happen with all my buds at work snickering as they drive out of the work parking lot in their POS American trucks. I'm overly sensitive on this matter, but it is better knowing they are taking care of it "fairly" quickly.
(I hate rental cars...lol)

Hey Coach,

Feel for you about the differential, big time. Glad they are taking care of you.

Do the rest of us a favor if you would, please find out what is "new and improved" with the differential. (BS alert!)

The rest of us want to know what the Hello is wrong with the old and unimproved versions we all have.

new and improved was tongue in cheek

The Jeddi Service Monkey assured me that it would be a "fix" after I voiced my concern of a repeat problem. I will squeeze him for more info when the dust settles and advise.

New and improved means they fill the diff with gear oil.

ROFL that is EXACTLY what I was thinking! And yes, I can laugh at this as I have been through it myself

I had a chat with my local ***hole service advisor today and he said there may be a national recall on the differential. He said they wanted to put a bigger differential in....maybe a 50??

diff

It's really hard to understand how after all the testing nissan did on the titan that they never noticed this as a problem.
