I'm getting really tired of people "reacting" to my stock, very bright low beams. While I love the intensity level, quite obviously others do not. I did a search and found old strings regarding the proper aiming directions and will try that to see if my lights are misaligned. Even so, I will still probably try and find a "normal intensity" low beam bulb to replace my stock ones. Flashing back is only a car by car temporary solution and just increases the anger level of both parties and it's not worth the frusturation. I know I hate it when people come up behind me with their brights on and I DO NOT want to seem just like them.
Are the low beam bulbs Titan specific or can you put any low beam bulb in there? Ideas/Recommendations?
I have never been flashed around here but I am going to be putting in an HID kit...I'm sure that will thrill people. I can't stand how yellow these lights are...my Honda has a 7000K HID kit.

that is a place to start...
it is really hard to find specific vehicle conversion kits, as far as I know there is no HID available on the stock Titans, and I am not sure if the reflecting surface is parabolic enough to properly use HIDs.
oh and if you are going to purchase them... I reccomend 4700K...
while the higher Ks are brighter... they also have more color... and do not provide the same ammount of reflection back to the driver...
trust me on this one... having owned 4700K - 10000K (insane purple color) the 4700's put better light on the road... much easier to see...

I would still recommend strongly against getting an ebay kit. Go with names like Philips and Hella. Just because some people have had success with others doesn't mean they are as good....after all, some people with Kia's swear by them too. The companies on the sites I gave you are REALLY good at "rebasing" HID bulbs (this is what must be done to get them to fit in a 9006 slot). Other companies may not be as good, and can give you a crappy light pattern. In life...YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
4100-4300K is the color temp you want to go with for MAXIMUM usable light. D2S bulbs put out about 3200 lumens compared to 700-1000 on standard halogens. As you go up in color temperature you get LESS usable light. I would strongly recommend against getting anything higher than 6000K color temp. For one thing, they don't give you as much light and for another, the light they give you is HORRIBLE in the rain. My 7000K kit on the Honda makes seeing the road in the rain nearly impossible (but it lights up the signs on the road like nothing else).
Also, keep in mind, Acura, BMW, Audi, etc ALL use the 4100-4300K bulbs. The blue/purple hue you see at the edge is due to LENSES that are used, not the color of the light itself. Like I said, if you want something that looks a little closer to Acura, BMW, etc, then get the 6000K kit. If you are looking for MAXIMUM light output get 4300K. I need a lot of lights for driving around back roads here at night so I am getting 4300K kit plus a bull bar with driving lights on there.

Don't be sick and tired...nobody has ever flashed thier lights at me....Maybe you just need to have them re-aimed. Have someone drive toward you some night, and see if maybe one of them is too high or aimed left. No reason to diminish your night vision if you don't have to. Have them checked before you change them.

I'm with dogman....I've never had anyone flash their lights at me either. I think most people that will flash their lights at you are gonna be people in smaller, lower cars. I'm sure that Dodge/GM/Ford owners have the same problem with their trucks. I can easily see how those in the smaller, lower cars would think you had your 'high beams' on, coming from owning low sitting Honda's in years past (and having driven my dad's Civic for the previous week while my Titan was in the body shop). I used to hate people in big trucks coming towards me or behind me, bi**hing to myself that they need to fix their lights. I still have a problem with them, albeit not as much since I sit much higher now in my Titan. Probably just a simple re-aim needed.

Thanks for re-focusing this string with some pertinent feedback. It seemed that there for a while my string had changed from "how to make my headlights dimmer" to "how to make them brighter." lol Can someone tell me how I should check the headlight aim? Is there a specific distance I should park away from a wall and then measure up a certain height or is it just a guessing game? I could have the dealership check them according to "spec's" but I don't really have that much extra time to waste.

I am sure that you can find information on how to "measure" your headlight aim, but it certainly isn't a waste of time to have it done with the proper equipment. You will be happier with the results if it is done right. It makes a big difference on your visibility if they are aimed correctly.
I would think that you could find someone besides the dealer to check and/or adjust the aim for you...if that is more convenient. However, the dealer may do it for nothing if you complain about it.
