Can anyone explain 8-9mpg?
Hey everyone, ive been fighting this bad mileage for a while, like no "oh im getting 13, what can i do to get 20?"
No. Im fighting to get in the double digits!
I thought it was my exhaust manifolds were very badly cracked, and turns out they were cracked quite a bit, and on one i was missing HALF of a gasket!
Missing half a gasket is hard to do, but the tech said while installing the originals the gasket must have tore, and then over time the exhaust blew the gasket out of place and it went bye bye.
So i figured that would fix my problem when i got them replaced. No dice.
Still around 8mpg, and if i baby it i get 9mpg. I cant figure it out!
Ive got my own K&N round filter that just clamps to the stock tube (Got rid of the air box) and a FM Super 44.
I do all my own oil change about 2,000 miles ago, and the tranny, rear diff, brakes fluid, and power steering fluid were done 5000 miles ago, the belts are still new, hoses are good. I keep my truck maintained as much as i can, but its not helping!
Any advice guys?

CVTitan05, I'm in the same boat. I get 8-9 around town and 10.5 on the freeway. Frustrating.

Recently my leadfoot has been cured, been too tired the past couple weeks with school/work/girlfriend, etc to have any "go fast" moments. Lol.

Re: Can anyone explain 8-9mpg?
Cvt I would try installing a stock air box for a tank or two and see how it does. For your mpg to be that bad you must have a afr issue from an intake leak or something. What kinda of exhaust gaskets and manifolds did you install?

I dont have my stock intake anymore, i cut the end of the stock intake that had the MAF mount, and then stuck the filter on the end of that. And the manifolds were done at the dealership under warranty.

Re: Can anyone explain 8-9mpg?
Heavy right footitis can cause that one for sure.
Also do the ecu reset, and check for a siezed brake caliper or parking brake shoes.
