Miss my truck already!

Took my truck in for a few fixes and they are keeping it at least until Monday.
Took it in Saturday morning for radio, paint chip, overhead console, warped rotors, and manual shift doesn't work. They said they haven't seen a manual shift that didn't work and had to call Nissan on Monday because they couldn't figure it out. The service person was really nice ( very pretty too), she said she couldn't get me a rental car until Monday though. Service manager was really cool too ( just happened to be a bowhunter also). He even invited me to practice shooting with him sometime. After all the problems I had with the dealer that I bought my truck from I was a little concerned about taking it in, I am really glad I took it to the other dealer here in town though. Both of these people seemed to be concerned with taking care of all my problems, manager even mentioned that he was pretty sure that they would replace the rotors, calipers, and pads. I will let you know how it turns out.

Went to pick up the rental car today and a service guy told me that the cause for the manual shift not working was that the alarm I had installed had burned out a body control module or something like that. I told him that it didn't work before the alarm was installed and he said that was not possible. He said that they will still cover it under warranty but it had to be ordered and wouldn't arrive until tomorrow so I didn't argue with him. The guy that installed the alarm does this for a living and is a friend of my roommate so I am going to talk with him about this tomorrow and see what he has to say about it. They also said that they will not be able to reconnect my alarm once it is replaced. Don't know about the other issues yet. I will post the outcome after I get it back.

Dude, that sucks that your roomate's buddy may have jacked up the BCM. That's cool that the SM wants to cover it for ya though instead of giving a stiff one. Probably cuz you are a bow hunter

Pays to make friends sometimes... though I would have rather made friends with the cute service lady.

can happen, I had an alarm burn out my ecu on my old mustang-it was so bad it burned out the ac fan and everything--it is a good thing you have a cool dealer--be VERY NICE TO THEM as they are a rare nissan breed in my opinion

I called the service department today to check on my truck and they said they were still working on it. When I talked to the the guy working on the truck he made it sound like they replaced the bcm and that it didn't fix it. They said they need more time. Looks like it might not have been the alarm after all, which I already knew because it didn't work before the alarm was installed. Guess I get to beat up on this ford focus some more.

Had a message on my phone after I got off work with an update on my truck. He said overhead console had been replaced, finally had the manual shift working (replaced shifter), couldn't understand what he said about the paint chips, parts were ordered for brakes, couldn't find a problem with the radio. Guess I will have to show him the TSB when I pick it up in the morning. I will update after I pick it up.

Picked up my truck Sat. morning and both of the service people I had dealt with were off so I didn't get to talk to them. When I asked a couple of questions about my truck the service people working at the time didn't know anything about it and said I would have to talk to the others. The manual shift works great and the console was replaced and on the invoice it said parts were ordered for the brakes. It also said something about the service engine light and replacing the BCM and resetting it. This is all fine but my service engine light had never come on while I had it, this leads me to believe that while they were working on it they did something to it and tried to blame it on the alarm. They said the alarm had caused the manual shift problem and would have to be disconnected. Well my alarm was reconnected but now it doesn't work right, I can turn on the alarm and open the door and get in and out without setting it off until I slam the door. I tried calling on the way to work today but didn't get an answer so I left a message. Have to wait and see where it goes from here.
