Unhappy Factory DVD won't power on

Well, the wife and I took a nice long road trip the other day, and decided it'd be a great time to fire up the DVD system so one of us could watch movies while the other drove. I mean, that's the point of it, right?

So of course it no longer works. It worked just fine about 6 weeks ago when I last tested it, but now it will not even power on. No amount of button pushing or combo selecting will turn the unit on. It and the screen are as dead as a doornail.

I'm currently a ways from my dealer so I can't just head over and beat on them about this (yet) but I was wondering if anyone, particularly anyone with access to the service manual, knew some basic troubleshooting I could try. I checked the fuse box in the passenger compartment but there's nothing obvious there, although there are several cryptic references to "electronic systems". I figured I would check fuses first since this, and only this, component has flat out died, and that usually means some sort of power issue.

Any help greatly appreciated; we would love to watch a flick or two on the way back from our trip!

According to the service manual fuse #31 and #4 are the two to check. There are about 9 pages from the service manual that cover trouble shooting of the DVD player. If you PM me your e-mail address I'll send them to you.
