Sheet metal rattle when accelerating from stop

Had a rattle that started last week. Took it into dealer and test drove it with mechanic. Was able to duplicate the noise. Turned out to be broken welds on exhaust heat shield. Parts are on order.

I think this may be the ticking noise some people are hearing. I am going to try and get under my truck this evening and check out the heat shield. That is what it has been sounding like to me - more of a rattle . If so I will hit it with the MIG and be done with it.

I could only hear it with the windows down. The first time I heard it was when I was messing with a Mustang. Jumped on it and heard this god awful rattle coming from underneath. You can hear it from either side of the truck.
Per the work order they are replacing Muffler assy, 2 gaskets and a tube assy, exhaust.

Mine sounds like a spark plug when it's firing, like a (snaping sound) is the way I would say it sounds on my truck. And the funny thing is I do not hear it when it's cold, only after it has warmed up do I hear it.
It's in the shop right now for this and other repairs.

It's been at the dealer since last Tuesday. They damaged a part while doing the repair. None in stock none available counrty wide. Rented me a vehicle courtesy of Nissan. I'm currently driving a new Silverado with 5000 miles. I miss my Titan.

It took almost 4 weeks to get the parts from Nissan. I told the service manager if I had wanted to drive a Silverad I would have bought one. Dealer was embaressed by corporates lack of repair parts. He said customer satisfaction is dropping mainly because the dealers can't get parts to do reapirs/warrenty work..

This will obviously cost Nissan Co. quite a few thousand customers........new truck owners.......that don't have time for new ideas that are not tested........until we use them.......I would like a new 05 Titan SE KC offroad and big tow......like I have but without all the glitches I keep hearing about!!!! With only 1,100 miles my gripes are minimum.....and I love the Titan....just got to get to know her or him!!!!!! And push the buttons the proper way.....just like a woman!! Gotta trane them!!

I had the same problem. It started about a day after I bought the truck and got progressively worse. I took it to the dealership in the morning and had it back, fixed, in the evening. No problems since.

My wife's experience with her Maxima, however, was very different. Her CD player died and needed replacement under warrantee. They replaced the unit, but scratched the surrounding face plates badly. My wife called the service dept. to complain, but they said that they wouldn't have done something like that (implicitly blaming her for the scratches, it seemed). She took it in and the service guy took one look at the face plates and agreed to replace them all. It was that obvious that the scratches were caused by the unit replacement. I'm glad they were so reasonable, but she'll be without her car again due their screw up. I hope the responsible tech. get yelled at.
