Tire Inflation Warning Light

On long (over an hour) drives, especially with no stops, (Pflugerville to Waco for your Texans) my tire inflation warning light comes on. It has done this since it was new. When I first drove the truck, it had 20" rims on it, and I had those replaced with stock wheels and tires (I go to East Austin a lot!). I had the dealer look at it and they could not replicate. Any ideas? The tire pressure seems to be ok, not the over pressure I have seen on the boards.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Yes. I do now. According to the mythical .pdf service manual that none of us ever actually downloaded (section WT, page WT-8) if the light comes on without sounding a buzzer for 10 seconds, that indicates a system malfunction. The tire pressure sensor system needs reset. The procedure is described later in section WT. They should know what to do. It is very explicit.

Mine is coming on during long drives as well. I replaced my 17" OR wheels with a set of the 18" non-OR wheels. The sensors in the "new" wheels are not now coded to my receiving system. It sounds like a very simple procedure in the manual, as long as you have the right computer-gizmo.

It is interesting to note that the book says the system uses the keyless entry system to receive the four tire pressure signals.

Mine is also doing this on long trips, I asked them to reset the system when I took it in last week to get the matching rear rims put on (it had LE's on the back, SE's on the front). So I get it back, no issues untill I took about an 800 mile trip this weekend, it comes on when I hit some rough pavement on the right side at highway speeds...

I wonder if they did anything? Also makes me wonder if they actually checked the rear end fluid too? Or if they re-torqued the rims correctly...

This is why I like to do my own service work, if I can...

Thanks for the replies! I am going to be taking it for the first oil change this week, and am goin gto have them look at this (and the FM signal fade, and the rear middle seat belt lock up).
Having said all of this, I should say that I LOVE THIS TRUCK!

I just had this happen after going over a speed bump a bit too quickly...could it be just a pressure spike from rough streets?
