Need Advice on Windshield That Was Replaced Twice & Still Problems

Our Titan's windshield developed a crack in it after about 800 miles. It was being driven down a suburban road, there was a large cracking noise like something gave way, and a huge crack about 24 inches long developed. There was never a stone that hit it, that we could tell, and we took it to the Nissan service garage, and they said it was a stone chip. We don't have a deductible for glass replacement, so our insurance sent us to a garage with a good reputation and paid for the repair.

The collision shop repaired it, and we took it home. They noted on the receipt that there was no evidence of a stone chip that they could tell. A week later, it rained, and the windshield leaked all over the interior of the Titan. We took it back in to the collision shop and they replaced the glass and seal again. When we picked up the truck, it had a dent in the hood and several small scratches on the side. The collision shop was apologetic and sent us to one of those dent repair places at their expense, and the dent was repaired.

Well, it has been about a month and a half, and we took the truck out tonight and we noticed that the windshield was leaking again. Water was on the console, and dripping down the side and onto the floor. There was even water coming out of the light switch where the light is on top.

I don't know what to think or what to do. I don't know if the collision shop is doing a horrible job (but they are a large well known collision shop with a satisfactory rating from the better business bureau) or if there is something wrong with our truck that it keeps having these windshield problems.

I don't know if I should take it back to the shop who already repaired the windshield twice and was somewhat careless with our truck, scratching it and denting it, or if I should take it to Nissan dealer and see what they think. I am so stressed out!

Can anyone offer any advice? Thank you so much for reading.

I would say goto a different body shop after talking to your insurance company. If after 2 or 3 times they can't get it right, they're doing something wrong.

Definitely go somewhere else....Apparently this place does poor work. Make sure you document all of the problems with the insurance company. Hopefully they won't recommend them anymore. Good Luck

You HAVE to contact your insurance first. They will not pay the other shop. THey will most likely send someone to look at it before sending it to and paying for another shop to replace the windshield. Also ask the under writer to note any water damages.

Request that your insurance let you have the local dealership do a COMPLETE inspection of the cab and all wiring, etc. to have them determine if there has been any water damage.... This might have voided your warranty.

Thanks! I will call insurance in the morning and see what they recommend. I'm worried about the warranty on the vehicle. Could this really void my warranty? If the truck has water or wiring damage, is anyone responsible or are we just out of luck? I love our truck, but this has been so stressful. I'm starting to wonder if it will ever be right.

When we replace a windshield I like to keep the car over night to insure a proper seal. The material they use to seal the windshield may not have properly cured causing your windshield to move around a little while driving. That may have caused your leak. Just a thought.
