A few days ago I looked at my oil pressure guage & it was pegged out!I mean pegged out!I drove it 70 miles to my local dealer thinking the sending unit was bad(no check engine light). They did a mechanical check & at idle it was 59-62 psi.(idle spec is 14psi).Much higher at driving RPM's.The dealer called the Titan Tech line & thay advised replacing the oil pump(a nearly 12 hr. job)They didn't seem to think a blocked oil filter or bypass valve was the problem.
Fearing seal damage or worse I called nissan cust. service & complained about all my problems. They of course said they would get back to me & I'm still waiting.
I have about 13500 miles on the truck & I like it but things are starting to pile up.
Anyone else have this problem or am I the first .

Even cold it is NEVER permanently pegged...in fact, mine is never pegged but there are other people on here who said it has pegged on them.
Same here-- when first started and cold it runs about 3/4 of gauge and then drops to a little over half gauge when warm.

I'm still waiting for round #2 with NISSAN customer service to get back to me with my 04Titan downshifting shudder issue......they have not been prompt or very sympathetic....when they talk with the engineer they get on his side...when they talk with me.they sound understanding.....if others call in with our problems it will become more important to them ( they said ).....no problem lines and no special service...but I don't think it is SPECIAL service when I am not getting what I paid for and it is not NORMAL! Hope your high oil pressure problem is fixed soon....I think you should get a new engine...who knows what damage this has caused. I'm sympathetic man!
Update on oil pressure.
Just got a call from the dealer. They installed new oil pump & had 120psi.!!! Obviously we have a serious problem. They don't know what it is & will be contacting Nissan Tech.
As for my call to customer support. As per my past calls (for different issues)they didn't get back to me when they said.As per there instuctions I called the tech back that I had spoken to.As usual, got his voice mail & left a message. And again ,as usual,a different person called me back with the company line that these problems are only minor & Nissan will fix.
These customer support people are basically clerks feeding info into a computer.I don't know what it takes to talk to someone that is knowledgable & can make a decission.

Yes they are.Know anyone that works in a call center?
They are just college students house wives ETC. Etc. and they have a matrix they follow.
Thats it.
Latest update:Still no solution to excessive oil pressure.Nissan factory tech support is stymied. The local tech is still working on truck as of last night.Sevice rep says they have checked for oil passage blockages & done everything they can do for now.I am preparing myself for a possible engine replacement.Has anyone out there had an engine replaced??
mine fluctuates too when the truck has just been started for the first time.I always wait for a 30 sec warm up but I guess thats not enough. Whenever I hit the gas(driving) needle moves towards hot/high. This happens until the the truck reaches normal operating temp,, thenstables out. I don't think it's a problem since it stables out when it warms up.
Clueless-why would a bad pump produce high pressure?
I feel for you. These folks aren't the 1st team. Why would they think a bad pump would produce high pressure? The pressure sensor is certainly remote from the pump,so a partially obstructed pump would produce a low pressure reading.(who cares what the pressure is at the pump,it is much more important to know what the pressure is near the bearings).Out of range pressure(at a given RPM) can only because by increased resistance, increased flow,or increased viscosity. You haven't started running 90 wt gear lube,so viscosity is out;the pump hasn't reconfigured itself,so increased volume of flow is out-only the resistance is left-a passageway is plugged.
I wonder if there are ports where they can check the pressure-flow downstream from important elements?Hope a new motor isn't in your future.Luck.Charlie
I agree, but it was the Nissan Factory Tech Support that told my local tech to change the pump. When that didn't work he called the factory for further instuctions & they were at a loss.He has since checked for blockages without finding anything.
By the way,he is doing a mechanical oil pressure test & not relying on the electrical sending unit or guage.
I have confidence in my local tech,it's the Nissan factory support, or lack of it,that worries me.
Dakota, you are right, the local guy sounds on the ball looking for obstructions. The tech support that suggested a new pump is the sort of "support" that makes you cringe. On the bright side, the fact that the new pump produced higher pressures probably means that whatever seals the old pump had were bad-maybe the overpressure blew them out.
Have you gotten a diagram of the oil circulation system?I would guess that there are channels that can't be tested without taking the motor down.Since it is a safe bet that the arean downstream of the obstruction is being oil starved it should start to fail.(unless there is some sort of collateral circulation like in humans)
Do you here any funny sounds yet?Have you cut apart an oil filter to look for metal?I would be really tempted to sacrifice a filter or 2.
Tough break.Good luck,at least the local tech is on your side, and competent.Charlie
niw that I read this post I looked at my oil pressure too and when it is cold and I give it any gas it goes all the way up to teh highest mark!! I am very concerned. I noticed this over the thanksgiving break so haven't taken it in yet. I never noticed it before and the only change I have made is the oil change place put in 10w30 instead of 5w30. I am going to take it back to them today and get 5w30 put in to see if that helps. I have been driving very slowly so the pressure doesn't go too high. Once it is warm i can give it some gas and it hardly moves, so I am hoping that the 10w30 is the problem. Dakota, what weight oil are you running? I don't really know the differnce between the oils but just wanted to know. The manual says to use 5w30 and I had 5w30 in there before so I don't know why that place put 10w30, I am going to try to get them to put the right oil in for free.
Wareagle, mine does the exact same thing. I have just went over a 1k miles and running the factory oil so not sure the oil is your problem. I about craped the first time I seen this happen. Then gradually it came back down and settled down where it should run. I will ask my rep about it when I take it in for my free oil change in about a week or so but suspect they will tell me this is normal. Like someone else said The oil pressure on this truck seems to move more than on any other vehicle I have owned.
