Rattle sound found. How do I fix it?

I have had a very annoying rattle coming from behind the instrument cluster. This evening I found that if I push either up or down firmly the sound stops immediately. I was wondering if anyone else had this and how they fixed it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like the rattle in my truck. Was the bezel rubbing against the clear cluster cover. I took the bezel off and put some adhesive backed felt (from Home Depot) on the back side. Also put some on the small tweeter covers and a few places on the lower dash panel. That has been about 6 weeks ago and so far, rattles are gone.

Pics of locations of loose nuts/bolts

Check out this loose nuts/bolts thread over at ClubTitan.org by JetTech. Lots of pics about locations of loose bolts behind the dash.

Bring it to the dealer and they will apply an insulator which should fix the problem. The sound you hear is plastic against plastic. It is very annoying. They supposedly fixed mine but I still hear it every now and then. It depends on the weather.

On mine, the problem is the metal clips securing the defroster vent ducts on top of the dash, just behind the windshield glass. You have to remove the instrument cluster to gain access to where you can stuff foam under the defroster vents.

So if you are to the point of removing the instrument cluster bezel anyway, you might consider taking care of both problems, since it's only a matter of removing 4 additional bolts holding the cluster in, removing some easy electrical connectors, and getting access to the defroster ducts.

When you remove the instrument cluster bezel, it's a good idea to mask-off the area around the bezel, because you have to yank on it pretty good, and it has some extremely sharp metal clips.
