My service rep told me some interesting news in regards to the auto up/down function not working right.
He seems to think it may have something to do with the "safety window auto down" sensor (when someone or something gets stuck when you do the auto up function. He seems to think that the black weather seal at the bottom of the window (the black portion where the window comes past when you auto up and then goes back down after about an inch going up) is interfering with the safety sensor. I guess this makes sense. He told me when I do the auto up, hold the switch until it goes past the black portion and it shouldnt get stuck. So far this has been working for me. If you just pull the auto up switch for a second it seems to get stuck and act up.
Anyone else try this? When window is down, pull on the auto up switch until it gets past that black weather strip and then let it go and see if it gets stuck or not.
ive tried to make mine mess up by clicking it up and releasing it as fast as possible, and it still works perfect....I have had 0 issues with my Titan.....4000 miles.
Mine just started doing this when a cold front made it this way to New Orleans. It would seem to me that the rubbers are much tighter when its cold and thus grabs the window which makes the sensor trip. I do the same thing you described by not using the auto up until the window is up 1/4 of the way.
Yeah, mine does that. It seemed to me to just be a quirk on the auto up feature of the windows. The safety sensor makes sense w/ it interpreting the bottom seal as interference and what not. Since, it has gotten cold here in Central IL I really haven't had too much of a problem w/ it.
PS -> I raise the window slightly then lift all the way up for the auto up feature as a work around, too...
yeah, i wait till it's come up somewhat before i let go. sometimes i think it's a switch problem because you flick it too fast or something. i added remote window close and it has stuck yet when i arm my alarm. hmmn?
It's the switch. If you hold it for longer then a split second it works perfectly all the time. If you happen to pull it too quickly wait a few seconds before trying agian. If you continue to try and use the window it will not work until you stop messing with it for a few seconds.
I don't think it's the anti-pinch because if you anti-pinch the window works immediatley after.
Have the same problem, but it only appears to happen when there is extensive humidity in the air. At least your service department gave you a legitimate answer.
Ya know, when using the auto-up feature you should be able to stick your hand in the gap and when the window hits your hand you get a little squeeze and then it goes back down. I have done this on my Altima and it wasn't totally painless but not enough to really be called pain. Now, another way to do this is to hit the top of the window while it is going up and it goes back down again. The Titan does not do this....the saftey for the auto-up is malfunctioning. Now, it seems to me that with a saftey recall they would get thier asses in gear. I like the auto up saftey feature and hope that Nissan figures out what they plan to do to fix this ASAP.

I just noticed this problem last week and ended up finding the same solution. It didn't occur to me what the mechanics of the problem might be. Thanks.

That pulling up the switch longer works ok and all, but thats pretty crappy that they can't just fix it. At first it was only my driver side door, now its both. I don't know if you guys ever use the windows up & down feature when you put the key in the lock and turn it either direction. I've tried to roll them up this way with the windows all the way down, and they do the same thing, up for a second then back down!!!

Rubber Squeegie Culprit???
Hey guys....had the same auto-up problem a few weeks ago with my 5/04 Titan.....first passenger side then the drivers side.....and on the drivers side the rubber molding you are talking about ( window squeegie ) was believe it or not ...all twisted up. Dealer replaced both switches and rubber squeegie.....all is NORMAL now. The rubber squeegee looks like the culprit to me...too tight????? They mounted the new squeegie a little lower. Maybe the adhesive came loose and moved the squeegee??
