Service Engine Soon Light

2004 Titan with 5800 miles.

have any of you had a problem with your SES light coming on? Mine came on and I brought my truck to the shop. They said it was a code suggesting the gas cap was loose. They reset the light and made sure my gas cap was tight. I filled up with gas on the way home and tightened gas cap well. Four days later the light came back on. Brought back to shop, it was giving the same code. This time they said it was a fuel vapor leak code. They said they "smoked" the system to look for vapor leaks. Found a possible leak with a vapor canister. This supposedly filters fuel vapors leaving the system. They ordered the vapor canister and a valve that attaches to the canister. They told me I could pick up my truck, driving it in this condition would be no problem. The parts have been on order for a week and a half, the valve came in but the canister is still on order. Currently the light is back on again.

Has this fuel vapor system problem happened to anyone out there?
