I have an 04 (build date 8/04) LE with the spray-in bed liner by Nissan. I noticed that over my right rear wheel the liner is starting to bubble in 3 places. The bubbles are small right now (2 the size of a penny and one the size of a quarter) but look like crap and may get worse. Suggestions?
Peter

Yes, it's under warranty still, I just don't know what type of fix options there are on something like this, and was just curious if anyone has experienced something similar...
Thanks

Bubbles are common, lots of posts. The bubbles will most likely get worse with time (due to changes in temperature). Take it back to the dealer. However, the dealer can't fix it. He will have to bolt on a new bed for you.
I'm a LINE-X dealer and I have repaired Nissan's factory spray-in liners.
Damn, so since it's a spray in liner they'll have to take the current spray in off and re-spray it???

No, incorrect. The bed will be replaced with a new one and that will either already have the spray-in liner or they will have somebody like Titangasm spray it. Other threads have posts about how Nissan fixes this issue. No worries, they'll take care of it.

Actually it's not a given that the bed will be replaced. When I had mine in a few weeks ago, the service advisor told me they had just received a 58 page document about resolving the bedliner issues (apparently they are having problems with the spray-in on the Frontier's also). he told me there are 2 fixes - 1) pictures of the bedliner sent to Nissan and a replacement sent (if you're in an 04, you'll probably get an 05 bed) 2) dealer fix per instructions in the 58 page document
Bottom line, just take it to your dealer and let them know you are having a problem. They'll take care of it trust me.

They are no longer replacing beds. They will only replace under the most severe of cicumstances.
Sounds like the fix for yours is just to cut the bubble open and see if it is sticky underneath. If it is they have to remove enough untill it is not sticky anymore and then replace what was removed. If it is not sticky under the bubble they will just apply some adhesive and stick it back down and then touch up the cut. I recieved a copy of the repair the other day and read through it. They do not mention what they will do if the delame is more severe. I would suspect that they would then contact Nissan and they would send someone to inspect and advise.
Nissan has contracted with Rhino to do their warranty repairs but they do not spray Rhino material for the warranty repairs. They spray an aftermarket version of the ppg material that was applied at the factory.
Did I confuse everyone.

since when are they not replacing beds anymore.....just had my bed replaced due to 2 nickels sized bubbles....if this is the case....that sucks bigtime....also, they replaced my 04 bed with an 04 bed....good luck!
I also had my bed replaced. I have an 04 and it was replaced with an 05 bed. I just got the repair procedure last week. The guys at the dealership said I was lucky and then plopped this huge document down for me to take and read and it was the warranty procedure for the bed. My take on it was that only under the most severe cases and as a last resort would the bed be replaced. bottom line is how much the dealership sells their case though.

If they aren't replacing the beds anymore, it's probably because they have found out the problems can be resolved at the dealer level instead of sending an entirely new bed. This is probably exactly what was in the 58 page document my service advisor was talking about. They have to go in, make a cut and find out if the under-layer of the liner is bad (moistures, etc) and then do some kind of patch work. Hopefully the bedliner in the 05 bed I have wont have any problems..we'll have to wait until summer

Interesting replies guys... I took my Titan to the dealer yesterday, and they took some pics and said they'd get back to me on Monday. I have 3 dime-quarter sized bubbles as well as the liner coming up in one area along the line that runs the length of the bed (does that make any sense?). I will update you all when they call me with a resolution.
Thanks
Peter

Several years ago, GM showed a truck at SEMA with a "factory" spray bedliner. GM did not pursue the idea because they could not figure a way for dealers to repair them.
While I think it's great that Nissan realizes that a spray-in is better than a drop-in, I think they should leave it up to the aftermarket companies to spray them in. At least the customer could have their choice of brand, color, price, and warranty.
The information I got about Rhino did not come from my dealer, it came from someone high up at Nissan and I also heard it from Rhino when I was at SEMA. There reasons were Rhino's extensive retail locations.
When they wanted to repair my bed they were going to take it to the Rhino dealer because they were trained by PPG techs on how to repair the Titan liner. It is not all Rhino dealers that can do it either, it is only certain ones in key markets. They were going to send my truck to a Rhino dealer 70miles away when there is a Rhino dealer in my town and the explanation was they werent trained to do it.
Not trying to start a pissing match just explaining what I heard from reliable sources
