When driving at night I see a second, dimmed image (reflection?) of headlights and breaklights directly above the the actual lights on the vehicle ahead. I know this is an imperfection in the construction of the windshield as I can move my eye level down and the second image disappears.
It drives me crazy and was wondering if anyone had similar experiences. Thanks in advance.
Huh...that's a new one. I have never seen this. I would take it back to the dealer to see if it was installed properly at the factory. Maybe you just get really tired driving at night? No, seriously, that could be a dangerous distraction. I would go visit your Service Dept and have it checked out. Good luck!
Its clean. Windshields are made of lexan? sandwiched b/w two pieces of glass. The light is bending slightly as it goes through one of the layers. I would assume rear view mirrors are made this way on purpose. I will probably take it in to the dealer for replacement. I was just interested to see if anyone ever had (or noticed) this issue.

What? this post has me really confused, whats the rear view mirror got to do with it???
I have the same issue with my Titan. I've only had it for 4 days now and at first I thought it was my glasses but I had my wife confirm that she sees the double light also. I also noticed that as the headlights get closer the double image blends into 1
All of the newer rigs I have owned do this. 87 dodge, 91 toy pu, 99 frontier, 99 quest, 99 toy tacoma, 03 kia sadona, 04 spectra, 99 sentra ge, and My Precious. Just what the glass does from all I can figure. I called a glass co. about it and it has to do with 2 pieces of glass with goo between them miking a like image. My Precious does this even in the day light. I just deal with it. My wife complained about it affecting her night driving, she is 5'3" so pillowed { raised the foam } her seat and it made it better. Just what I did thats all.............
Standard rear view mirror reflect light at varying intensities at different angles. You flip the lever at the bottom and you are looking at whats behind you at a different angle through the mirror - one that reflects less light.
No, 6'2" as well. When I slouch down to a 5-0 level I don't have the problem. Don't know why the glass got past quality control - maybe OK for average Japanese height.
