Exclamation Lots of Steering wheel shake

I took my titan on some back roads, now nothing too crazy just alittle mud and couple of potholes. I noticed this thing is like a tank on the trails with a little mud very little lateral stability. Compared to my last car a jeep. I was really surpriced at how big it felt.

Anyways got off the trail and started heading down the highway and i noticed at like 40 mph the steering wheel started shaking. Then at 60 mph it got worse. So bad that i can't go over 60mph. I mean the shuddering is really really bad.

Anybody have an idea of what could have happend? I only have 800 miles on the truck. Someone said i knocked it out of alignment but i didn't really even drive hard or go over anything that big???????????

I hope im heading out here in a bit and im going to run it through the wash. I hope thats it. But how could mud make it shake that bad. I'm a bit skeptical but i will try it. Lets hope because if thats all it takes to knock it out of alignment then that would suck. I barely got it muddy or went over any thing that big....

Thanks

Look at it this way, a 33" tall tire that is 4oz. out of bal. will shake SO BAD that you wont be able to hold onto the steering wheel at 60mph. NOW, stop and think how LITTLE MUD it takes to weight 4oz.!!!!!! NOW, make SURE you rinse out the INSIDE OF THE WHEELS!!!!!!!! good luck!!!!

I have noticed a lot of shake when braking, more than with any other vehicle I've ever driven with ABS. Granted I'm usually braking from 70 to 0 (I only go two speeds - stop and fast) and I'm guessing it has to do with the big brakes and the need to lose a lot of speed. Am I on the right track?

Your rotors are warp ,like many of ours ,take it to your dealer for the brake TSB.

Remember the movie "My Cousin Vinny"?
He has the same problem with his car. He asks everyone and the all say wash the mud out of the wheels.

I had the exact same problem ast month. We had a huge snowstorm (3 feet and drifting aver 7 feet). I shoveled out and headed for work and had a terrible wheel shake at 60 mph (so bad I could not go over 60). I definitely had a bunch of snow stuck in the wheels. After leaving the truck in the warm garage during the workday I had no problems going home (snow had melted).

Keep those wheels free of mud and snow...

Another vote for mud! I went off a few times at Buttonwillow raceway recently and dipped my fronts in the mud sideways. A handful of mud can throw your wheels WAY off balance. I had to pit and scrape it off before going back out.

Just look at those little weights they use to balance your wheels... a big clump of mud is going to outweigh those little weights.
