I said I wouldn't do this but I thought...

...y'all would want to this. I have my Titan into the doctor/service dept for a checkup and a small list of things (I even brought in the TSBs for them) to go over (judder, a rattle, a tick/knock, humming/glass like rattle when heat is on high in defrost mode and no AC on, rough idle when in D and stopped sometimes.) I AM NOT STARTING THIS THREAD TO DISCUSS THESE ISSUES, please DON'T POST IN THIS THREAD ABOUT SIMILAR ISSUES.

All I want is the share that with my rattles, knocks, ticks, etc my service manager grabbed a tear pad that has a full sheet on it with various pictures of a generic Nissan and places to write in descriptions for any rattles, ticks, knocks that I am experiencing with my vehicle. You circle on the pictures the problem area and on the back list out each area and what the noise is like. There also is a check list for the type of noise you are encountering: tick, knock, rattle, explosion, vibration, etc.

I think Nissan is recognizing quality issues now from manufacturing and is beginning to track nation wide so that they can address by vehicle type and build date. It wasn't specific to the Titan just for Nissan service in general.

Thanks for reading and I hope this is a postive sign of things to come from Nissan.

Oh man you have that rattle too, I freaking hate that. Did they fix it? >=)

Although I loathe Nissan's customer service I definitely would see this a step in the right direction for them. It would be great if they got this together.

I haven't seen that sheet but my service dept. said Nissan is tracking problems so they can correct on the assembly line before they get out. A step in the right direction and the price we pay for being Titan pioneers.

In my experience a Service Department is someone who takes your ride, screws with it, may or may not fix any problems you have and charges you out the bung hole for what they think they did.

(Havock doesn't like service departments)

It's Titan daycare where you leave your truck for several days or weeks at a time so you keep the milage down on it. If your lucky you get one of theirs to abuse...opps I meant drive. I put almost 3k on the first one they gave me.

You just convinced me I should stop trying to figure it out.

I know what you mean and it really is sad... I read the same kind of thing on the Honda forum and it just gets me so frustrated.

I will admit for years now I have thought that customer service is something that could be put onto the endangered species list.

Well, most everything is done. I have to go pick it up, and I guess a speaker is on order along with some seatbelt & trim pieces that were rattling or something. Brakes and dash are done...so, when I get the details I will post them.

Maybe that sheet will prove itself useful to NissanUSA...thanks all.

Oh, and Squid,
A service center is a place to go when you want some 'ME' time away from your Titan and it needs to be in timeout because it's being bad. I'm glad yours is behaving.

Mine wasn't behaving because I push it too hard on brakes (same issue on my '00 Maxima) and I am most likely going to order Mossy's components if the judder comes back. I guess doing the lines, rotors and pads will be the only way to protect it in the future. I only changed out to aftermarket rotors on my Maxima and never had the judder troubles again, though...should I change it all if it comes back?

Plus, I'm beginning to think that your theory holds merit. I have the E-locker with the Off Road pkg...

Got Titan has the Mossy pads and is pretty happy with them. I've been thinking about buying a set as a preventitive measure before the summer fun heats up. ( I really do sympathize with anyone who has to go to the dealership.) (SHUDDER )

Recall? brake pads? Recall? Brake pads?........................

I hear you on the recall. I will still take it into my own hands if nothing is out by summer. The rotors and pads I would do for sure, don't know about the lines...

I have a later '04 and the HVAC hum/purge cannister solenoid TSB thing is bad on mine. It was supposed to be for 12/03 Titans and earlier but they ordered that part for me due to my issue. Machined my rotors with the 'Procut' and used a new PAD KIT - DISC, BOLT, BOOT KIT - FRONT. Also put felt strip underneath my defrost grates/vent covers and fixed that rattle for me.

I have no complaints, EXTREME NISSAN Service is always top notch and professional for me. Chris Stroukas (service mgr) is the man. Thanks Chris!!

Anyone who has the service manual for the Titan will tell you that it has specific sections dealing with noises and rattles for different areas of the vehicle. These sections also provide troubleshooting tips and fixes for the particular area and problem.

These sections were put in the manual before any widespread rattle problems were being reported to Nissan.

One would hope that there is a nation wide reporting system for these issues and that someone is compiling this data and then doing something about it but the pessimist in me tends to doubt it. Too logical.
