Constant problems with my Titan and the Dealership

Sorry to get on my soap box but I need to let every one know about Trophy Nissan and how they have handled my warranty problems and the damage they have caused to my truck.

These are all facts and I have the service history to prove it.

I bought my 04 Titan in April 04 and it has been it the shop for about three months of the time since I bought it. I have had nothing but problems. If it is not the little petty warranty problems then it is the dealership damaging my truck when trying to work on it.

I first had the rattle in the dash. It was the trim piece that mounts around the insturment panel. They first did not work on the truck at all the first couple times it was in, if they did they did not check to see if they fixed the problem, because it still existed after the first couple times in. They finally worked on it and scratched my dash pretty bad. I still had rattles and took it back again for this and for a clunk coming from the rear some where, (thought it was my differential) and asked them not to scratch the dash any more than they already had. Well I got it back and it looked like the guy that worked on my truck used the dash to cut the felt strips to size. They also told me the clunk was from the bed shifting different from the cab since they where not one piece, I said ok. Now I get the truck back and have gouges and scratches in my dash. I ask them to fix it and when i get it back this time the repair job was shotty and there was the gunk he used to to repair my dash on my passenger seat and on my ac control knobs. When I tried to clean the stuff on the controls it took the paint with it. I complained to the service manager and his response was "Well you have a warranty, so if it starts to mess up we will replace it." Nissan said this is not warranty because the dealership is the one that damaged it. Finally after 8 months or so and threatening to pickett if front of the dealership they finally said they would replace it. They have replaced the seat cover, ac control knobs, and know the dash. When I took it in for the dash to be replaced they also had to replace the driver seat cover, it was not sewn right from the factory, and both window switches in both doors. I also have had to have the King cab lower hinge replaced on the passenger side because it was broken from the factory. A couple weeks ago I noticed that the tailgate was not shuting properly and that the post that it latched to on the drivers side was loose. The tailgate has moved around so much it has rubbed paint away and it has rust. The service manager tells me there is no adjustment for this, but will send it to the body shop for them to look at it. I get a call from him and he tells me that the metal piece that is mounted to the corner of the tailgate that has the round piece that goes over the the post for the pivot point of the tailgate is bent and that I had to have wrecked the truck. My truck has not damage to the body or tailgate. The piece they said is bent does not have any paint missing from it from it being bent and cracking the paint. So he said I must have gotten something in there and pryed it and bent it. Still not paint missing from it being pushed on and the inside of the bed would have some kind of dent or scratch on it if I bent it. So know they are telling me that this is not warranty that I will have to pay for it.

I also have had the brakes redone twice. When they fixed the trim around the instrument panel it was not flat to the instrument panel is was crooked. They said that was normal. Well when I got my truck back from them after they replaced the dash the trim sit flush against the instrument panel instead of crooked, but the service manager said crooked was normal.

I also noticed that when I push the brake pedal the sensor that releases the shifter to shift is a lot louder since they worked on my truck. It was barely noticable when I first bought the truck but since they worked on it it is way louder. This is the column shifter not floor shifter. If any one has a column shifter please go out and start up the truck, press the brake pedal and listen for the click of the sensor. I can hear mine with the door open, truck started and, and sitting straight up in the truck and it is still very loud. This should be the same on all 04 column shifter. I would really like to know if any one elses is very loud.

Does any one know how to file the lemon law in Texas?

Thanks

Hang in there!
Try and get a new 05 for all your problems.
You have had alot of the same BS that I went through at my old dealer and I won out in the end with a new 05.

Good luck, hope you get a new truck!

Deep.

I have tried, I have even been dealing with the GM and they just don't seem to care. I had a lot of the same issues with the service department on my Frontier my wife totalled. I went back to them because the GM had to get involved and he made it right on my frontier after I got it back it never went to them again. I was pleased with the results he got and he said there would be no more issues and to please continue to use them. Well I almost have to because they are the only dealership within 45 min drive.

How did you manage to get an 05?

Trophy's service department is a zoo. They are focused on volume and not quality. I am searching for a new dealership as my complaints are many also. I love the truck but don't trust it to Trophy.

Well maybe its time for you to just up and find a new dealership. While you may have legitmate problems, you're not bound to keep going back to the same dealership. Even if there isn't one nearby you, it just might be worth it to drive the next closest dealership...just look at it as a sort of mini-vacation. You get to see somewhere different while hopefully getting your problems taken care of. If a different dealership knows that you have had nothing but problems with another dealership and you've driven somewhat of a distance to them, I would think they would bend over backwards to get you taken care of and attempt to keep you coming back. Who knows

Titan69,
Thanks for taking the advice offered and starting your own thread. I am sorry to read about your local dealership problems and I hope that you get some kind of resolution to your many issues with your Titan.

I hope that you find yourself being helped out by the GM and other worthwhile posters on this site, unlike POSTitan.

Gotta love a Big 3 supporter, or I'm guessing it's most likely admorris, that jumps on just to bash and run...

The GM don't care. The nissan rep had to come out and meet with me today. He is going to goodwill (bunch of bs) the brackets on the tailgate, both are bent. He even said to the service manager the there is no paint chips, no flaking, and no impact point to cause them to bend and said it was probably done at the factory. HA in your face Trophy. I told the rep I don't have a problem with them working on my truck as long as they WORK on it. I told him that they never do any thing the survey asks if they do, like qc ing the truck to make sure the work was done. Your truck is ready when picking it up. I always have to wait about an hour for them to chase paperwork and release my truck.

Hopefully this will be the last problem with them. Don't get me wrong, I love the truck, just tired of all the petty bs that is happening to it.

nah if it was Admorris, wouldn't he have slammed both the Titan and F150, since he's a big bad Dodge owner now - oh wait no...I think he'll soon be touting that the Ridgeline is the best truck around

Anyway sounds like Trophy is a $hit pile dealership that can't pull their head out of the pile to figure out what is going on.

I'm not sure where you are located, but there should be a dealer that's not much further from you. There are Courtesy Nissan @ 635 and 75, Urban Nissan on I20 in Duncanville and Bankston in Lewisville on I35 to name a few. These shouldn't be more than another 15-20 minute drive, if that much. If I were having your problems with a dealer, I would not have a problem driving a littler farther to get better service.

I have had the same dash rattle fixed and the radio replaced at Grubb's Nissan in Bedford. You couldn't tell that they had even touched it...no scratches or additional rattles. Their service dept. is great to deal with.

Good luck with getting this resolved quickly and in a manner that is best for you.
