Question Power seat has mind of it's own

I'm new here but have already found answers to my questions I was going to ask by doing search and reading all sections of the forum. One problem I haven't seen discussed is one I have experienced from the first moment I sat in the drivers seat at the dealership when I picked up new truck. ('05 SE CC w/popular pkg and bench seats). Usually when I open the drivers door and swing my butt in, my left leg is still pressing on the left edge of the seat. During the time it takes me to get my leg all the way in, the drivers seat back will move forward or back. I pointed this out to the salesman at the time of pickup and he said I probably was moving the adjusting lever with my leg. I don't think so. Have watched many times now and don't see my leg touching the lever. The funny thing is that if I try to press around on the edge of the seat again, nothing happens. I have to turn off key, get out, close the door, wait a few seconds, open the door and swing in to the seat for the problem to occur. And of course, if I tried to duplicate this feat for a service writer, it probably wouldn't happen. Just wondering if anybody has seen this in their Titans. Great forum. Like I said at the start, almost all of my questions have been answered except this one. TIA

Yeah

Sometimes in the morning when I get in. Always raises the back up. Doesn't happen very consitantly. I'm pretty sure it is my leg hitting the controls though. I'll have to try it out.

Same here, I was hitting mine as well...I decided to put on some step bars to keep from wearing out the leather by sliding out and ever since then no more ghost in my seat....

Yep, it was discussed over a year ago.

Try doing a search, some guys here have already installed an ON/OFF switch. I can't remember but I think it was bestatchess that did it.

I also put strep rails on and the problem went away cause I can get up onto the seat instead of sliding into the seat.

This was one of the very first "bugs" noted by many when this site originated. It's too bad that in over a year they can't fix something like this. I assumed it had been fixed, but a few weeks ago I was looking at a truck and the same thing happened. Had to just shake my head and smile at the same time.

If you ask me, I think they should just throw out the seats on these completely and go with something high-end. The power setting range is minimal, the foam is wimpy and they're relatively small.

There's a Honda dealer next door to my office, so for fun I walked over there and checked out the Ridgeline...it's as ugly in person as it is on-line...but let me tell you...you'd do back flips to have their seats in your Titan...and the leather?....actually feels like leather.

Angry Wake up NISSAN

I can agree the problem is there. Mine has been doing it since new-11/03. Even had the seat replaced-new one does it too.

The materials throughout the vehicle are substandard. My seat was replaced because the foam separated (at about 10K). Since the Tundra I had before is a always looked down upon as a smaller vehicle, why is the seat smaller (and cheaper) in this truck???

The QC on this truck stinks and it will always shake, rattle, and roll. The local service guys know me as I visit them a couple times a month- every month. The company hasn't been very responsive to problems and this 30+ year Datsun/Nissan owner will probably be looking for another brand before my warranty is over.

Get with it NISSAN!

I too have a problem with my driver seat. When the car sits for a while. The back of the seat has moved slightly forward. I checked my movements and found that I was not at fault. Previous to this the dealer blamed my sheepskins for killing the battery. So I took them out. Now after 3 or 4 days my truck is hard to start with the seat forward again. The dealer can't find any electrical problems of course.

I have the same problem, my leg hits the lever when I get in. I think they should move the switch to another place.

And I thought I was going crazy.... Well, maybe I am but at least I know it's not just me with the seat. I don't think I'm hitting the lever when I get in.

If I turn the truck off and get out and wait a few minutes, I can hear the seat moving.

Guess I'll have to look for that on/off switch.

Same here...

I always feel like I'm having to move the upper part of the seat back.

There was a thread a while back about a noise that could be heard a few minutes after shut-off. It sounds like it's coming from the dash, I wonder if this is the noise everyone is hearing...??

I use to have this problem until I installed my step rails. Now when I get in to the truck I step on the step rails and therefore when I sit in the seat my leg is at a less of an angle than if it was trying to go directly from the ground to the truck. This is not a cure all... It still happens every once in a while, just less frequent now.

Had the same problem, installed step bars 5 days after I bought it and the problem, if you want to call it a problem, went away.

I have step rails, and it is not me hitting the switch when i get in the truck. I can turn the truck off, get out of the truck and wait for 2-3 minutes and I can hear/see it move.

Have you ever thought of performing an exorcism on your truck? Do you call your truck Christine? I think your truck is possessed.

On a serious note, I'd take it to your dealer and try to get it to duplicate there for them.
