From my experience, there are two types of people that buy a truck, those that use them daily, and those that use them daily and beat the hell out of them off roading.
I'm wondering if you guys could list your problems, and tell me whether it was related to a manufacturing problem, or off road abuse.
Any and all info would go a long way in helping me make my next decision.
The two biggest concerns have been the rear diffies and the brakes.
The newer brakes have cut in at assembly already (I think...or if not will soon) and the differentials are still untested in my book. There was a redesign and a change in fluid specs form 04-05 that should have taken care of any overheating problems.
That being said, I had 40 separate issues, none of which are exceedingly common on their own and I just happened to get a bad break. I would probably still recommend the Titan over other trucks, even though I am not a fan of Corporate Nissan.

Top 10 Ways You Know You're a Hopeless Procrastinator:
What are you comparing the Titan too? Each brand has their own problems:
F150 Bad rear is more common than on Titan and 2005 Titan fixed rear problems. Slowest in class, handles like a caddie. Heaviest and has only 4 spd trans available.
Silverado Last place in the class. Don't know how chevy sells any besides deep discounts to fleets. Oldest, most out dated, weak puller, engine head gasket and brake issues, reliabilty issues.
Dodge 1500 Breaks down more often than any other in class. Some Titan owners had them break on test drives.
Toyota Tundra: Toy being the operating word here. Not a full size choice, it is more a 3/4 full size truck. Half the payload/tow rating of others in class, old update, smaller physically, slow and underpowered with smallest weakest engine in class.
Titan problems: Brakes (being replaced for free with new updated parts that fix problem and parts will be standard on all made after 5/05.
Rear, fixed in alll '05 models
Rattles. Common among all in class, most if not all gone by '05.
Its now a second year vehicle and most of the bugs are gone. Fastest, one of the strongest pullers, good ride/handling, and good off road capability. Price isn't bad either and reliable as heck.
Its easy enough to discount a truck for another because of "percieved problems" but if you don't know the whole story, you could go to something with worse problems instead. Hope this helps.

i just bought one 10 days ago and the brakes are the only things that I am worried about. Not even really worried about because Nissan has a permanent fix out and my brakes will eventually be replaced free of charge when needed. BUY A TITAN!!!!! You won't regret it

You didn't say where you're located or what you're driving now. I'm in the east so things are kind of tight. I have a standard cab Tacoma 4x4 and a Crew Cab Titan 4x4. The Titan is my family "car". After owning a CJ-7, the Tacoma seemed big for offroad. After the Titan, the Tacoma feels pretty nimble.
If you're just talking about going on some logging or hunting roads, it's great. If you're talking about some hardcore offroading, mud and woods -I think you might find the Titan a bit big. I know it'd sink and high center on some of the trails I've had the Toyota on, along with getting the sides scratched to crap by branches. I'm pretty easy on my trucks, so I don't consider those hardcore trails.
The only thing I'm really sweating on my truck is the rear. A couple people have had them break for what seems to be no real reason... Possibly underfilled with fluid at factory, possibly just poorly manufactured. The brake thing seems pretty common on a lot of half-tons if you do some reading. There is now a pretty good aftermarket even if they crap out after warranty.
Don't THINK about buying a Titan. Run to the nearest Nissan dealer and sign on the dotted line. I haven't regretted it and neither will you.
