Thought I had blown up my engine

I found out a way NOT to start your Titan, unless you're fond of very scary noises coming from the engine bay:

1. Start the Titan, cold
2. Move your truck 10 feet to do some work on driveway
3. Shut down engine

The engine had run maybe 30 seconds, I never touched the gas, just had it idle and backed it up that way.

4. Leave truck sit while you do the yard work
5. A few hours later, start Titan to move back into place

VERY loud bang from engine bay, then it runs normally. When I say VERY loud, I mean like someone put a metal bucket on your head and hit it with a hammer

I figure it's gas vapors still locked in the cylinder that detonated when I started it. Shouldn't happen, though.

Will let my dealer know next time I'm there. Not that it will matter much, but just to get it registered in case a warranty case comes up in the future.

I do know for many vehicles, you shouldn't start your vehicle move it a very short distance, and shut it off. If you do that when it is cold out, many times they won't start again. It was like that with my Pathfinder, and my Frontier. Don't know if that is the case in warmer weather.

I hope I don't have that happen to me...if the wife's in pass seat she'll think I was beating on the truck.

It could have been unburt fuel vapour from the cold start up left in muffler that caught when you restarted.
