"Rockford" stereo problem

I have an '04 with the "Rockford" in-dash changer, I've had the stereo replaced for the poor reception and now the new stereo has a problem, at least I think it's a problem. I recently noticed that the cd would still play while the stereo is in another mode, like fm or DVD. I'll hear the cd changer changing discs while I'm not listening to them. If I'm listening to a certain cd and turn on the radio for a while then go back to cd, a different disc will be playing. I've never had this issue with any other stereo I've had, the cd player is supposed to stop when you're not listening to it, right??? If it doesn't then this puts a lot more unnecessary wear on the stereo, anyone else noticed this?

Also, what is the warranty on the parts that the dealer replaces under warranty? My truck is now out of warranty, but the stereo was installed about a month ago, shouldn't it have a 12 month warranty on it since they put in a defective stereo?

On my '04 RF head unit, the CD player stops when I change to another mode such as XM or AUX, and does not continue to play or change discs. I think that it will also take up where it left off if I am playing a CD, switch to XM or AUX, and then switch back to CD.

Your CD can continue to run if you are set up to listen to the back headphones. Check to see if the little headphone symbol is showing on your display. If it is, turn it off by pushing the headphone button. This should fix the problem. Mine has done this in the past.

good luck

If its not the headphones, there is definatly something wrong with the head unit. I have the standard non-RF 6 disk in-dash, and it always picks up right where i left off when i change to Radio or AUX. My father has the RF system and it does it exactly the same.
Even if its not "officialy" on warranty, since they replaced it once a short time ago, most good dealers will fix it again and charge it to the warranty as a fault that was identified before it ran out.

Good point about the headphones, I know mine are on, but isn't that just for listening to the DVD player, there's no sound out of the headphones unless the DVD player is playing, I thought they get their signal from the DVD player only. I could be wrong, I'll double check to see if they are playing the CD when the DVD is off. I just don't see how they could get the CD signal while I'm listening to the radio out of the head unit. I just don't think they get their signal from both sources, I'm positive my old CD player would stop when I changed the mode on the head unit even though the headphone symbol is on. I'll try and check it out and let you know...

Thanks keane, I was wrong, the CD continues to play when the headphone light is on. Do the headphones also get the signal from the stereo?? I counldn't get any sound through them except from the DVD player. I'll play with it some more when I have some more time, at least I know why the CD player was playing all the time, thanks again!!!
