If anyone wants to fax their warrantied rear invoice to my dealer I'd LOVE the help. And will send beer money to anyone who does via paypal or money order.

I want to call them out, on their fraudulent accusations, I'd like them to be penalized for those claims.

Put Attention Rick Suder, to show Tom's case is NOT abuse and that these rears FAIL ALOT! maybe not so many words but I'd love some actual hard evidence. I'm hoping the Nissan rep meets me in person and doesn't just call.

here's the fax number is you guys would like to call also, Kona Auto Center, Rick Suder is the sales manager, Willam Schmidt is the Service consultant, and Jeff is the service manager. here's their phone 808 329-4408 fax 808 329 7499.

again this would further strengthen my case. please anyone and everyone who's had the rear replaced could you fax them a copy of the invoice saying it was under warranty? Especially the guys who didn't blow one would be nice so they know it is FAILURE not abuse. Thanks pm me for your beer money if you do or call me 808 640 2540 thanks,

Tom

I noticed the same thing. No body w/o BT or OR has replied. I don't have either the BT or OR, so my fingers are crossed. I got my dealer to replace my rear diff cover and switch to synthetic w/o any symptoms.

This is my 4th new veh in 5 years. I want to keep this one for at least 8, hoping for 10.

Hawai bass guy: Your dealer is pissing me off really bad. I really hope the other TT members help you out as requested.

Saw one today at the dealer while I was there. Guy brought it in cuz it was leaking. The porter drove it around the corner and I was in the back talking to some mechanixs about a clunk I have and I heard the loudest uneasy sound a car could make. I knew right away what it was.

Owner had a 05 with new fin LE 4x4 crew. He did say all he towed was one of the dirt bike haulers ? He never heard of this site but I did tell him about it. Have no idea about miles and anything else. Just what I observed from the outside. One mechanic did say which I thought was funny, " What ever was in there sure wanted out"

Add SAFETY PK FOR 2005 ONLY.

Guys, sorry to add one more thing-just for 2005 truck owners.Do you have the safety package?
It has been suggested that the VDC is breaking the rear ends.VDC is found on all BT 2004's-so we have that covered. It is also on just safety pk(side side curtain airbag) equipped 2005's.(If I am wrong on this-let me know)
If you have a 2005-just say I have the safety pk-or something like that.Thanks.Charlie

Squeipo,Paulphilly,Havaiibasshead-do you have VDC?

2005 owners-let us know if you have VDC please. On 2005's,I think it comes ONLY WITH THE SIDE SIDECURTAIN AIRBAG PACKAGE.
Other folks out there.I seem to remember that you couldn't get a 2004 BT with both E-LOCKER and VDC-is that correct??
It has been suggested that VDC is causing the failures.
Thanks.Charlie

5 failures-E Locker-no VDC-Correct me if wrong.

We have 5 full failures so far-one not quite failure. All the failures had the Elocker-which-I think-means they didn't have VDC.If I'm wrong, please correct me.
I am fairly sure you can't have VDC and the E-Locker.Correct me quickly,if I'm wrong.
We need more failures.Thanks.Charlie(not more failures(ha,ha),more postings)

I went back about 2-3 months and found these folks had posted failures. If you guys get a chance-post the particulars of you truck-rear end failure.
If someone held a gun to my head ,I would guess that about 20-30 owners have posted rear end failures over the 1.5 years,I've watched the forum..Several had multiple failures.(I think closer to 20 than 30)Thanks.Charlie

Rule that one out. My 04 that went through two rears did not have VDC. It was a XE KC OR 4x4.

I guess I'll post this for future reference(and searches), because I haven't seen one posted with this problem before. I developed a leak around the pinion bolt and a howl when coasting. I assume that the pinion bearing pre-load had loosened, and that caused the howl. Below is the pertinent info for the survey.

1)2004
2)4x2
3)BT
4)No
5)28600
6)1
7)Yes
8)5k
9)Yes
10)Yes

Sorry about so many questions.
If you can use this format, great,if not, just write it out on one line-I'll put it together.
Sorry we can't do a pre failure study, but it would be too much info for me-not that computer adept.I will post updates of the numbers,on this and other posts.I'll also bump this up occasionally.Thanks.Charlie-Mikey,Philly,basshead-give us some help.I am sure I have seen at least 10 rear end failures (not counting multiples)posted over the year.

9 poster 8 4X4 6 ELOCK 3 VDC

So far we have 9 posters(some had multiple failures with more than one truck 2004 and 2005)
A quick look
8 were 4X4
1 4x2 had a "late-28,600 miles" failure-a leak and a howl
6 had E locker
3 had VDC
9 had the 3.36 all of them
The failures are at laughably low miles(median probably 6000 miles)-well,I wouldn't laugh if it were me
The tow loads were modest, and not everyone towed
Some live in hilly areas, some don't
8 had ABLS if all 4X4 have ABLS??Not sure on that. The ABLS is some sort of 4 wheel drive positraction,I think??-it is probably electronically controlled, and not under the drivers control at all-strictly automatic.
6 -at least 6 had brake problems also-If I were a naysayer(I'm not-it is a truck afterall),I might consider this a marker for serious use.It probably does mean they use their trucks as trucks-Hey,it is a truck??Brake problems are a kinda common problem for ALL 1/2 ton trucks, all manufacturers without exception.
The single 4x2 was at the highest miles 27,828.
5 had multiple failures-did I count wrong??
You will notice only 8 here.I got ccsi from his post.
Keep them coming.Charlie Below are leading associations-no reason to think the 3.36 gears are bad-just association-not cause effect.Same story 4x4
9-3.36 100%
8 4x4 89%
8- abls 89%
6 Elock 67%

5 brake also 55%
3 VDC 33%
