Found dash rattle.

I had a dash rattle last winter took it to the dealer they could not duplicate it was intermittent so I could buy that. After going all somer rattle free I was lovin life cooler weather and its back well I noticed it only did it when the defroster was on so I started tapping around the dash and finally came onto the defroster vent so I popped the vented piece for the defroster off and rattle bgone so I guess the heat from the defroster was heating it up causing it to rattle I will put some felt or something to quiet it down I wonder how many other people have this one?

Re: Found dash rattle.

Yea, my trusty Titan rattles like a can of marbles and has since day one. Come to think about it, every vehicle I've ever owned or borrowed has developed nasty rattles. Even my bicycles as a kid rattled and wobbled. I think my problem can be directly traced back to me. hummmmmm.

It's laughable when they say they've never heard of "this" problem.

Re: Found dash rattle.

I too have been fighting this rattle. I have put velvet tape over everything and it is still there. I have not tried the fix that is listed above yet. Will be doing that this weekend. I know it is the vent cover, just can't figure out were it is touching.

Re: Found dash rattle.

I have a rattle in the same place too! It only does it when it's cold out though. Went away for the summer and now it's back. I've tried putting felt around the entire perimeter of the part and it's till doing it! If I push down on the part while it's rattling it'll go away. It's located on the right side of the part, right in front of the passenger seat.

And all this time I thought it was attributed to my cavalier lifestyle as a teenager.

Re: Found dash rattle.

yea, putting felt around the preimter will get rid of tsome of the rattles, but I'm betting most of you have the same problem I did. I hope my fix works for you guys. As an additional fix I also put adhesive felt around the tips of the metal clips for the defroster grill.

Re: Found dash rattle.

Hey K-MU.
I had that same rattle coming from the steering wheel and my dealer took it apart made sure everything was tight, put it back together and the rattle is still gone to this day. Might have been the airbag or something vibrating inside.

Bait a trap with a little cheese and leave it on your floorboard overnight.
