TSB out for 2004 Diffential Fluid Spec Change

Nissan has finally issued a TSB changing the 2004 differential fluid specification to synthetic 75W-140. It hasn't showed up on Nissanhelp.com yet, but it is listed on Nissan's inside publications website as bulletin NTB05008.

Just changed mine last week to 75W-90.

Thanks Wolfhound . . . just about every thread that touches on differentials has had at least one "where's the beef" post in it looking for some hard evidence of the new fluid recommendation - beyond the '05 owners manual.
We've had Mobil 1 75W-90 in all four diffs since last summer. Hand pumped in the driveway, but worth the effort. With a TSB in hand, this next one's on the dealer.

Does the TSB call for replacing fluid in both front and rear? Thanks for posting, as much as I hate dealers I'll let them handle this one.

Thanks for the link. What kind of bad joke is that TSB? So, if you plan on towing with your truck, it should have 75W-140, but they wont pay for the change.

Chance what chance it can't void your warranty.
Magnuson moss act of 1975 said it’s your right. I hope you don't think they are using Nissan motor oil brand. My local dealer will only use 10-30 even when the book said use 5-30 I asked.

So go and change it out more to gain then not.

Cool Surprised they used Motorcraft......

My dealer put Motorcraft 5-20W syn-blend for my Titan's first free oil change.........Lincoln Mercury Nissan Dealership.......I bet the Motorcraft was the cheapest.

Cool Maybe Jamie can make a special?

Maybe Jamie can run a special if the Nissan 75-140W is so good?? For $14 & change the Valvoline75-140W synthetic oil at Auto Zone has been fine.

I bought some gear oil from walmart $8.82 a quart I got the tip from another member. Supertech brand. Works fine the gear oil meet specifications. What I did was bought 3 bottles its easer to squirt the oil in that way. After I couldn't get any more out of the bottle I would fill the bottle back up and start again. Cheaper then buying a pump. Job took 10mins oil out and new oil in.

OK, So lets see if I understand this!!!!!! If you dont change the oil to synthetic, and you tow a 5000 lb. load, it will burn up the rear diff. But Nissan WONT PAY TO CHANGE THE OIL??? That makes NO SENSE!!!!! SO why would'nt you JUST DRIVE IT and when it burns up, Nissan will change the conplete DIFF. costing THEM at least a GRAND!!!!!!! WOW, THATS REALLY SMART!!!!!!

Dealers!!!

Well the print out I recieved from a parts manager that my shop deals with showed that this was a bulletin.....So I brought my truck in for service and showed them the bulletin. They asked if I towed, replied "yes" and they changed it for me under warranty???? The only stipulation was I had to bring it back another time, because they said they don't carry that weight oil. So are they covering it under warranty or was this a nice gesture?
