How do you tell if an axle seal is leaking or if the vent just let some go? I have marks on my inside brake covers that look wet, but the overall fluid was not low. I had just gotten back haul'en a mean looken car trailer from up nort full of wood +6500lbs for 300 miles but the titan should have handled it even though I was on the gas hard.

On the gas hard with 6500 lbs? Did you check to see if you were driving with the E-brake on a little? That could heat things up enough to cause some leakage out of those seals. Check it out.

Mine went out at somewhere around 23K or so. I probably would not have caught it for a while but the guys at the tire shop showed me the leaky seal when they were rotating my tires.
Dealership replaced the left rear axle and I check it about every few weeks now. Completely covered by warranty...inconvient but no big deal.
I noticed drips on the garage floor in the morning.. took it to the
dealer, they fixed it no problem. mine was leaking at the joint closest
to the motor...
Damn it, that is exactly how mine looks. Another issue with this titan. How long did it take to get the parts, labor etc. I'll be looking for that free monthly payment from Nissan how did you guys get that?

The axle seals are $20 retail and it is a fairly easy job.
I have had the drivers side replaced once, wasn't leaking quite that bad. Now the pass. side is leaking, took it in on Friday and showed the svc. manager. He said.."You don't suppose that it's being caused by those bigger tires??" and I said, along with the mechanic: "If it were the tires causing the problem, the bearing would go bad first, not the seal." Needless to say he's getting the parts in and fixing it next wednesday.
One other thing, has anyone actually bought a NO FEAR Titan??? Supposedly its basically the same as my truck and comes directly from Nissan with the same warranty, so really the lift or tires shouldn't matter anyways, because that would be pretty hipocritical, right?

I just got off the phone with the "new" service manager and what do you know, he's had a couple come in for bad axle seals. We need to get Nissan's attention with this so we aren't screwed once the warranty is up. I have heard that the release valves are one way and they cause the seals to "pull in" when cooling down and that does these in? Also this could be the reason for the rear ends going as well. I plan on modifying mine to a 2 way valve in the future but wouldn't want to void the warranty - I'll ask tomorrow while I'm there - I'm going to push for the finned cover as well.

Mine was repaired (picture above) in under 3 hours from time of drop off until they called me and told me it was ready. They said they didn't know why, but they have had 4 or 5 fail and have to be replaced.
