Re: Auto start issue

if the car cranks but does not turn on, then the immobilizer bypass may not be seated around the ignition. it needs to see a key in order to start.

if you car sometimes cranks but never starts, you may need to have your tachometer "learned." this is how the remote start knows that your car is started. it senses the tachometer wire.

perhaps they did not wire up the 2nd starter wire.

perhaps there are loose wires. did they use T-taps or solder+electrical tape?

2 of 3 starts the truck will not start. If I try to start it with my keys the car would crank until I unlock the doors with the non oem remote. How can I do the tachometer learned method???

Re: Auto start issue

that is odd. the car should start just fine with the key, regardless of the remote start addition.

i could not find any information about an Autopage 516. i am not familiar with Autopage remote starters.

if the truck does not start unless you unlock[disarm] the doors then i suspect that there is a starter kill involved that is turned off when the doors are unlocked. however, your truck should not crank if the starter kill is engaged.

you will have to look in the install manual to find out how to learn the tachometer.

if you had a shop install it, i suggest you take it back to them and have them do it correctly. you paid for it to work. if you do have them fix it, ask them what was wrong.

the truck IS cranking but not turning over?

Re: Auto start issue

it does have a starter disable which would prevent you from starting the car from inside if the door is locked. have the shop verify this.

i believe your car is not starting because of the tachometer or voltage sensing is not set correctly. have them verify this.

don't forget to get back on here and let us know what the problem was.

in the future, only work with DEI (Viper, Clifford) or Compustar products.

Thanks man...! I got it fixed. It was pretty close to what you mentioned above. It was the transponder unit not send the signal strong enough. They relocate it closer to the ignition. Hopefully, this will solve it.

the newer nissan's transponder is affecting what? the transponder bypass or the actual alarm/remote start unit?i have never had a problem with my DEI 556u transponder bypass sending the signal to the ignition... never. also, my clifford works flawlessly.

i'm not sure how the autopage transponder bypass looks like but they may have to adjust how the key sits inside.

maybe the remote start unit isn't triggering the transponder bypass to send the signal at the proper time needed. this may be due to loose wires. did they solder and tape it off with electrical tape or did they use t-taps? soldering makes a solid connection while t-taps break the wire provide a less than average connection.

Re: Auto start issue

This is what the shop wrote to me:

"Sorry for any inconvience, I just got off the phone with Auto -page and they assured me that it has nothing to do with the unit but the problem that we're having has to do with your transpoder key. Right now they are in the process of developing a new transpoder unit to work with Nissans.

It's not just your car but most 04 and up Nissan's are having the same problems. Right now there's nothing I can do until they come out with a new system so it's up to you what you want to do. A) sit on what you got for now until they resolve it-which will be a few weeks or B) we can disconected for now.

Like I said I'm sorry for any inconvience but it's not the unit that is bad it's the transpoder that is causing the issue so there's nothing I can do right now but wait for their solution."

When looking under the dash. The wires seems to be tapped with a clip?..

tell them that you know someone that has an 05 titan that uses the DEI 556u transponder bypass and never had a problem. tell them you want them to install that one instead. they should be able to use that in place of the faulty autopage bypass unit. i don't think it's your key... your key is the same as my key.

if wires are tapped with a clip... that is a bad install. they should have never invented t-taps.

Can the the auto page unit work with this DEI bypass unit? And if the shop does not carry it. Where could I go buy one? Circuit City?? How much should I expect to pay?

I just email the shop about what you suggested about the differ bypass unit.
Hopefully they can do it for me??
