I thought the days of the frozen doors was over with the 05,
Well I just do not understand why Nissan cant get these darn door cables and latch mechanisms fixed! I took the family out for dinner tonight, I keep the truck in the garage when the weather is bad.
We had alot of rain that changed over to snow over night, It is very cold out, about 9 above zero with wind chills below zero. After dinner when we came out to the truck it took for ever to get my doors opened on the truck! And they would not shut! We had to push the doors in and lock them so they would not open on us while we were driving down the freeway!
When we got home the locks were frozen and the doors would not open!
We were all stuck in the truck! I have a 2 year old and this is just not acceptable at all!
My old 04 LE CC had the same problem back in Dec. of 04 the dealer replaced all four cables and latch mechanisms in all the doors with ones out of an 05 Titan, they said Nissan had update those parts to fix this problem. And that it was comming from frost that would build up inside of the doors, on the cables and latchs.
I never had the doors on my 04 stick or not open and shut after that.
Nissan replaced my 04 with a new 05 back in March and I thought that I would not see this kind of problem again!
? It has been two years now and we are still having this problem, to me this is one of the biggest problems with this truck! When it gets cold you cant use your truck! And it's unsafe! And it's very embarassing to be in the parking lot of a restraunt banging the doors trying to get them to shut while your two year old is crying because she is cold!

Man i've never heard of this problem, with any vehicle at that. Then again i have never lived outside of TX. Can anyone else post any past or present experiences with this problem??? That way we can help this man out. This sounds like a big problem for people in really cold climates. BTW where are u located deepwater??? Its 11 or so here in south tx and its the coldest its been all year 44F .

Not so much... Just being cold really has nothing to do with it. It's a problem when water gets inside the door(somehow) and freezes.
I actually had this happen again today. When in the warm garage the doors were fine. After a few hours outside, the water that got inside a door froze and it would not open(left rear). After a while in the warm garage, the door opened fine again.
This has happened to me before on other vehicles too. It's really only an issue after rain and cold temps or freezing rain.
Sounds like more of an issue of poor sealing with the doors.

Having lived in Michigan and having the same thing happen to my Ford Mustang and Ford Bronco II, I used the following with success...
1. Silicone spray in the locking mechanism and on the cables. Prevents water from freezing on the cables. I've heard petroleum jelly also works-haven't tried that myself.
2. De-icer spray for when it does freeze.

SWTXTITAN... Thanks for your concern! This has been a big problem for some time but it only happens when it's cold outside or below freezing.
Which is about half the year up hear in Minnesota where I live.
I went through this back in 04 and was told by the dealer that Nissan redesinged the way that these cables are run through the latch Mechanisms, they were rerouted so as not to create this problem from frost building up and it seemed to work because they replaced all of that hardware out of my 04 LE put in all new updated hardware from an 05 Titan. I owned that truck all winter up untill March of 05 when my new 05 came in and did not have any problems with the doors sticking at all. I thought great I'll get my new 05 and it will have all the new updates and I will not have to deal with this again.
But I was wrong! Now a year latter and the same problems as before and I know Nissan has been dealing with this for some time. This should not take over two years to fix!

My truck has been in a warm garage, we went out to dinner. It was just cold outside and frozen, not wet. No snow or rain. roads are dry.
I was dealing with nissan on this with my 04. The problem is FROST builds up inside of the doors on the cables and latch mechanisms and causes them to bind up. I herd that they may have made some new changes for this on the 06. At the dealer first thing in the morning that is if I get into my truck!
I live in the frozen north and I have never had this problem with my Titan, but I have had it very occasionally with other vehicles over the years. However, I do have a problem with my tailgate closing when it is cold. The colder it gets, the harder you have to slam it for it to latch. It finally stops closing completetly when it gets below -20 to -30 degrees celsius. I haven't got any cold days this winter yet (where I have needed to open it) but it happened all last winter. When the dealer adjusted the latches, they were just too loose and the tailgate rattled.
My only concern is it could be the Truxedo cover. I had discounted that last year, but I am still not sure, so I am going to take off the cover rails and see if it does it this year.

Reason: Added thought
Same problem here. My drivers door froze yesterday. Had to open it from the inside. I had the other 3 doors fixed last year with new latch mechanisms. I will now have to bring it in again for the drivers door.
I doubt the problem is fixed on all '05 models since I am sure Nissan tried using up all of the '04 parts figuring only 25% would be a problem. I work at a company that manufacturers a consumer product and it happens all the time here. Management monsters make those decisions.

You may be right, but my 04 had all new hardware from an early build 05 it was installed back in Dec. of 04 and came out of an 05 that was on there lot at that time.
So I dont know what happen. My 05 was built in Jan 05 so maybe there were a few old parts still in the bin who knows?
Anyways the truck is at the dealer, I hope to hear something soon.

File a complaint with the National Highway Safety Board. If they deem it a safety issue they will make Nissan do a recall. Everyone who has this problem should file .

Dealer just called me back and told me that nissan said that they have a differant problem with the doors now. Nissan says it's the actuators inside of the doors that holds the metal rods. They are freezing up.
I asked the dealer if he check to see if the doors on my truck had the new updated latch mechainisms on them he said no and when I asked why he said there was no need nissan said that this is the problem.
This really bothers me! They didn't even check to see if I had the updates!
And to top it all off Nissan says they will be putting out a TSB on this soon but as yet do not know when! So no parts to repair this at this time! and they dont know when they will release the parts and TSB!
I'm making alot of phone calls right now to say the least!
