Rear Axle seal failures

Hi guys, my rear axle seals failed at 29k. The dealer said that they've had quite a few come in with bad seals and think that Nissan will put together a TSB on it. Anyone heard about this or have any info? I don't want to be stuck with 3-4hrs of labor time cost once my warranty is up. How can we put pressure on Nissan to act on this issue. Thanks for your help.

Re: Rear Axle seal failures

Any angle on the cause of the seal failure? Will the TSB say anything more than "Replace leaking axle seal with new seal" ?

And 3 to 4 hours to replace an axle seal? I would think about 30 minutes should cover it.

O.K., maybe an hour. Are these seal failures being causes by a defective breather? I may be going to do the breather tube mod.

FWIW

I had to have my pinion seal (driveshaft into rear diff) replaced at about 2,500 miles as my Titan was marking its territory in my driveway, but no issues with axle seals, but then again where would that oil splatter, onto the wheels, onto the brakes???

The posts so far showing it running down the inner side of the shield located just inwardly of the rotors, thankfully not onto the brakes.

Re: Rear Axle seal failures

The stealer still has to give me a call to set up the time, but the 3-4 hours includes new bearings. And yes the mod to the breather/vent sounds like a way to go.
