"Ticking" sound from under truck

Hello guys. New to the forum. Once you drive the truck around a while and you open the door, you can hear a ticking/tapping sound. Sometimes it is loud and sometimes it is just noticeable. When you brarly get the truck off idle the ticking will increase with RPMs. I have got under it and can not trace it down to the exhaust but seems to be coming from the transmission area. Any ideas?

Re: "Ticking" sound from under truck

Some people have found that an additional ground wire will fix a tick.

Sometimes a tick can come from a cracked exhaust manifold.

Re: "Ticking" sound from under truck

I had the tick before and the ground wire fixed it right up. Hard to get the bolt off but after that it was an easy fix. I was begining to think I was going to have to replace the hamster wheel bearings under the hood but the ground wire did the trick.

No matter what I do I can't get that damn bolt off!! I sprayed it with WD40 and I've tryed from the hood and through the wheel well but there is a brakeline bracket or something in the way thru the wheel well.. after many hours that bolt is STILL on! Help!! I've been using a 14mm size. My wire has been sitting inside my console forever. Is there another bolt I can put the wire on?

Make sure the wrench fits real good or you will do damage to it. So if you are using a cheap set go out and buy a good socket to fit of fuel line wrench works well to. You have to keep trying.

Re: "Ticking" sound from under truck

I've put so much muscle into it I think it is starting to strip, but the 14mm can still get a good grip on it. When I try to turn it I can't get it to budge. I'm trying this from under the hood. Maybe I can get some type of shop to do it? Maybe the dealer? lol they would prob charge $50.

Any garage with air tools would likely be able to handle it.

Yea if you can get a good fit with an impact, that should get it.

Re: "Ticking" sound from under truck

Alright guys, I put the extra cable in just like the pictures show. The ticking is still there. I do not hear the ticking around the manifold. It seems like it is coming from the transmission. Any ideas?

Tranny mounting bolts loose?

Body to frame bushing mounting bolts loose? (just rearward of right front tire)?
