Hi all, I had the permanent brake job done about 8000 miles ago and they have been trouble free since with a big reduction in brake dust. However, at the time I had mine done, there were still many posts on here about having to have the rotors turned twice before the new rotors could be installed. Just wondering if anybody is still being told that line by the service writers.
had my front rakes totally replaced today. two new rotors, pads, bolts, and the body harness. didn't get a runaround got a thank you and please fill out the survey when you get it.

I guess a lot of dealers were giving run arounds cuz they didnt have the parts...I was one who was getting the run around HARD...they would be like well call u back...then never would...well schedule an appt. and never would...then they finally get the parts and voila the brake fix...
When my brakes went bad the service righter told me they could only trun the rotors right now.
So I went above him to the service manager and he told me he had all of the new parts for lastest TSB in stock and that he would put all of them on my truck. this was back in Sep. of 05.
My dealer was up front with me whem I first reported the judder. He told me that they didn't have the parts and all they could do was turn the rotors. I decided to wait since the judder wasn't too bad. When it was time to get them done, they did the final fix without any hassles. So far so good with the new brakes.

I have mine done about 6 weeks ago. No run around no big deal made about it from the dealer. There has been a huge reduction in brake dust and solid stopping since.

If it was 04 or early 05, you weren't getting a runaround. Nissan was building trucks with the improved rotors and production of the new rotors had to increased to retofit all the other Titans per the TSB. That is why the TSB said to turn twice. After 2 turnings the dealership should have had the revised brake kits to install.
I had the judder problem at 8k and they turned the rotors, which was the only fix at that time. Judder came back at 14k and they did the new fix, no problem. Almost zero brake dust now!
As far as Nissan warranty surveys go ... I don't get them. Probably because when the dealer's customer service rep called after the seatbelt recall fix, I told them how unhappy I was that they scratched the rear seat frame and even put a small scratch on the exterior paint by the rear door opening.
I'm sure they put something in their records to be sure I don't receive a customer satisfaction survey from Nissan.

That survey letter is sent by Nissan Corporate and is generated by a warranty repair visit. Call them and let them know you're not receiving them and ask why.

You have two choices in life:
You can stay single and be miserable,
or get married and wish you were dead.
I've been researching Titans since last October. I'm amazed to read horror stories about brakes -- brakes?!?! Brakes is brakes! How could Nissan f up on brakes..??? I just talked to someone at Nissan about the issue and they claimed that it was primarily on 04 and early 05 Titans.
But I've been finding so many horror stories that I'm thinking I might go and take a second look at the Toyota Tundra. How could Nissan screw up BRAKES? Worse, why LIE about it? Dismal, insane business choice.

On the new trucks the brake problems are rare.
I had the Final brake TSB done on my 05 at about 7k miles on the truck and have over 18k miles on it now so 11k miles with the fix and no problems what so every at this piont!
The brakes are just working great, very little to no brake dust at all and stop smooth with a frim brake feel with no fade.
I would not let the brakes issues of the past stop you from getting a Titan.
Just my view on this, I plane on keeping my truck for along time best truck that I've owened to date.
Hey everybody, I just bought a brand new 2006 titan! Its 2days old! I love every square inch on this truck but I do have a question regarding the brakes. I noticed if I am going 40mph or above and I hit the brakes with the right amount of pressure my stearing column will start to shake. Is this normal or is it something I should get checked out?

sounds like brake judder to me or maybe a bad rotor, bring it in right away and they will take care of it for ya no problems there.
I just had mine done about 2-3 weeks ago. I originally brought into the dealer and they didn't even have the recall or know about it (the replacement of the rotors, pads, etc.). They just turned rotors and tried to charge for new brake pads ($180 each or something).
When I went into to pickup the truck I started questioning and they had no clue what I was talking about. Luckily I had the TSB with me and showed it to them. They thanked me, made another appointment and said we'll have the new parts in a week when you come back and get you taken care.
I can't imagine... What happens to the people who don't keep up on the problems with their vehicle? If they were in my shoes they would've been charged almost $400 for repair that was covered under warranty. They probably would've ended up at the dealer in another 3,000 miles when the machined rotors wore again too.

Got mine fixed yesterday. What an improvement. I thought the judder was minor. I evern told the dealer that I hoped they would notice.
I contacted the dealer last friday and explained that I thought I had brake judder (6100 miles). He scheduled a tuesday appointment stating that the requirements for the lastest TSB would be honored. Due to a personal schedule conflict, I dropped the truck off Sunday night expecting Tuesday service. I got a call yesterday (Monday) stating that the repairs were completed. No questions asked! The shop order listed all of the appropriate parts. After visual inspection I confirmed that new style front rotors had been installed.
They also took care of the BCM harnes recall (TSB NTB05-086) associated with the trailer wiring harness.
