Driver Seat Moves By Itself. Anyone Else?

Greetings,

I have a 06 KC, SE, 4x4 built 12/05. I have the power drivers seat. According to my salesman the power drivers seat only has a memory setting if you purchased the LE model.

Once exiting or entering the truck, my drivers seat moves by itself from the position I had left it in. This happens alot. Then on more than one occasion, it almost crushed me between the steering wheel and the seat back. This happened when I shut the truck off, got out to check the parking space (still getting use to the big truck) and getting back in to start the truck. Weird.......

Anyon else?

Re: Driver Seat Moves By Itself. Anyone Else?

There is plenty on this. Do a search, From what I have read it is how close the controls are to the seat cusion. When you go to get out or in you inadvertantly hit the controls because the weight of your body on the cusion touches the controls. Hope that helped if not do a search!

That same thing was happening to me. It look a long while to figure that out. The motor is quiet but if you pay close attention when getting out or in or when leaning in. you might hear the motor cut on when you hit the button.

If I am sitting in my truck with my leg hanging out the seat will move everytime. The buttons could be in a better spot.

Re: Driver Seat Moves By Itself. Anyone Else?

never moved while I was sitting in it but am constantly having to move it back where I like it. I dont step on the running boards to get in or out and I move the controls with my leg, no big deal IMO

Re: Driver Seat Moves By Itself. Anyone Else?

Same for me. I've had my Titan a week and kept thinking I must be nuts. Why would I have to keep moving the seat?

Then, I just figured it was a fluke and related to my entry/exit. Seeing the posts here give me a sigh of relief, since I don't need to seek couseling now.

Re: Driver Seat Moves By Itself. Anyone Else?

Guys,

I do not touch the buttons when I get in or exit the truck. After the first time this happened I doubled check my entry/exit procedures. When I started to pay more attention to it, when I unlock my doors at my truck then open the door, I can see and I can hear the motor running that moves the seat back.

To me, it is no big deal. Really not worth the aggrevation of going to the dealer with this issue. The only time I rethink this course of aaction is when it tries to crush me between the steering wheel and the seat back...LOL

I believe the power seats have the "exit/entry" adjustment settings. I had this on my 300M too, so I'm somewhat familiar. When the vehicle is parked and shut off, or the doors are unlocked, the seat goes back to allow easier access into and egress out of the front seat. It typically goes to your memory setting when the ignition is turned. This is an easy enough thing to disable. I did it cuz it drove me nuts, too. The procedure is in the manual. Oh, and if you feel you got a higher feature in the seats than your accessory package allows, shhhhh - don't tell them. They may want it back!

Re: Driver Seat Moves By Itself. Anyone Else?

Question regarding my seat. I have the 2006 SE, KC. According to the manual and my salesman I do not have the memory feature for the drivers seat.

Here is the question. What is the best way to figure out if the factory screwed up and put a memory feature in my seat? That is, without screwing anything up as is.

Re: Driver Seat Moves By Itself. Anyone Else?

I found that if you program your seat settings 1 & 2 (with different key fobs) and you use the unlock button at the same time it will learn the controller and set the set to your settings when you unlock your vehicle. Pretty good if you read the manual.

Re: Driver Seat Moves By Itself. Anyone Else?

06 CC LE

My seat MOVES with or WITHOUT me in it. Period. It happens when I turn the truck off and when I start it up. Once I shut the truck off, key out got out to get gas. Left my door open. I wasn't standing ANYWHERE near the seat and you could hear the seat motors groaning and moving. My wife and I both looked at each other. She was sitting in the Pass. seat. Other times I've gotten into the truck, started it up, and before I even put it in gear, I could hear/feel the whole seat move forward.

If I'm hitting those controls I've got superhuman power. I'm 5'11" and 180#. My *** seems no where NEAR those controls.

Re: Driver Seat Moves By Itself. Anyone Else?

Too bored to read everybody,

I read the Manual in detail and it notes that even without the memory (LE) seat option, your seat has one setting which it returns to and to adjust this memory setting you should "see your dealer".

Also like the 300M guy said, there is a function (at least for my King Cab) which has the seat start leaning forward when the truck is off with doors open or something. Most of its in the manual.

Re: Driver Seat Moves By Itself. Anyone Else?

That's not what I'm talking about. My seat does have the entry/exit feature. Everytime I take the key out and open the door, the seat moves back. Get in, shut the door and turn the key on and it moves to my position. I'm talking about... turn off truck, open door, seat moves back, get out 30 seconds later, seat moves FORWARD. Nobody or nothing near seat controls. Today at lunch I checked to see if the controls were "loose" they seemed fine.
