Re: Nissan Titan-NHSTA REPORTED FAILURES-of powertrain:driveline:rear differential unit:

Blew mine at 33K miles "spider gears" put in true-trac no more problems.
They said since mine was lifted not covered under warranty.
love the true-trac but hate the tire wear.

Re: Nissan Titan-NHSTA REPORTED FAILURES-of powertrain:driveline:rear differential unit:

I was shocked to have mine fail 2 months ago. I have the '04 cc 4x4, off road, big tow, never towed, I do not live in a hilly area but I have done a few long road trips, canada, verginia several to upper PA area (got to play paintball). I have had my breaks taken care of for the shudder problem. I do not beat on my truck, I just treat it like a truck should be treated. I always go to the dealer for all maintainence and they did not have a good reason for me why the rear failed. since I got mine so late in '04 it already had the heat sink finned cover. I love the truck and plan on keeping it till it dies (i hope many year from now) but with the premature failure of the rear (fixed under warrenty), i do not want to have to get that fixed again in another 42000 not under warrenty.
Your Confirmation number (ODI Number) is: 10212111

hope this does us some good.

Re: Nissan Titan-NHSTA REPORTED FAILURES-of powertrain:driveline:rear differential unit:

I have added my name to the NHSTA list now. I have an 06 2WD (non tow package) with 37000 miles and my rear axle seal is leaking. Nissan is replaceing under warranty. And yes, it will probably happend again...

Re: Nissan Titan-NHSTA REPORTED FAILURES-of powertrain:driveline:rear differential unit:

I Just Added My Titan To The List. My Odi # Is 10213366. I Have A 2004 Cc Le, Big Tow, Off Road W/ Locker, No Vdc, Mileage At Discovery Of Spider Gear Being Broken Is 72,000. Out Of Warranty And Nissan Won't Do Anything To Help Me. I'm Currently Pricing Out 2 Options: 1. Replacing With A Truetrak. 2. Replacing With Oem Locking Unit With 4 Spider Gears. I Don't Have The Sticker Number On The Rear Diff Because The Sticker Is Gone.

Re: Nissan Titan-NHSTA REPORTED FAILURES-of powertrain:driveline:rear differential unit:

just bought an 05 Titan SE with 34000 miles on it. I had it two weeks and the rearend just went. The used car dealer I bought it from gave me a 3 month 3000 mile powertrain warranty but doesn't the truck have a 60000 mile powertrain from the factory?

Angry Re: Nissan Titan-NHSTA REPORTED FAILURES-of powertrain:driveline:rear differential unit:

the truck is being towed to star nissan in greensburg pa to be repaired under the factory powertrain warranty. the tech told me it is a known problem and the issue is a vent becoming clogged and starving the diff of oil. BS . Tell me if I am wrong but the only way the starving would occur is if the oil leaked into the axles via a bad seal through the seal at the drive shaft end of the diff cover itself. The gears are partially summerged in oil wether its venting properly or not. Boy this chapps my***. Thanks for the speedy reply. Great truck otherwise.

No, the YruTrac will work fine. Search TruTrac on this forum and get all the info you need. Also , PM some of the ones who have had the TruTrac installed, they can help you. Good luck.
