That is impossible to answer, it will probably give you some warning first ie noise or vibration. If I am taking a long trip like vacation I will drain and check the plug then refill. But that is overkill probably.
Thanx helo, Ive had the truck for a year now this month. Hardly get to drive it. Got a ranger work truck that gets all the miles. Titan is my play truck. Camping, fishing, whatever. Didn't want to be loaded up for the weekend and get my parade pee'd on.
Helo, did you try mushing those chunks with your fingers? I thought mine were chunks but they were just gobs of fine particles.
Trout, I had no warning either time. I can tell you that if you take it easy it probably won't go. If you do harder starts sometimes, try keeping it close to home for those and you should be ok. Like the others have said, no sense worrying, just take it easy when it counts. (Sucks to have to think like this)
Also remember if you have 4WD, you should be able to make it to safety using that. Even in 2wd, the problem will be making turns and not finessing the gas. I Imagine you could probably travel some distance taking it easy even after it goes. I was 1 mile from home the first time, and about 3 the second. Both trips had corner turns. The gears were crunching, but I still made it to the carport.

Mississippititan is checking his axle part # for us. He has a new 06 CC. Hopefully we'll have his part # tomorrow. I rode down to Blackburn Nissan but they didn't have any 4X4s on the lot.
