Poor fuel efficiency for 2017 Titan

Hi everyone. I got my 2017 Titan SV 4x4 in December 2016. Since then I have had a very difficult time getting anywhere near the advertised fuel efficiency which is supposed to be 15 city, 21 highway, and 18 combined.

I have been getting on average 11mpg or max 13mpg average. I have been calculating this manually by tracking gasoline added and the odometer miles. The good news is that the Titan's computer seems very accurate in matching my 11mpg to 13mpg average.

The bad news is that no matter how conservatively I drive, even without passengers and with an empty bed, I am unable to get 15mpg much less 21mpg on highway driving.

Gas anyone else noticed this?

Re: Poor fuel efficiency for 2017 Titan

I haven't done it manually, but with the computer pulled up it helps me keep my foot out of it.
City, I stay around 14 (babying it). If I get on the highway I can push it to 15-16 after 80 miles or so (without resetting it). I'm around 600 miles into it and hoping for better after a little more break in.
I knew coming from an 2007 it wasn't going to be great, but with it flashing right in my face, lol.

That's a 4000 mile average with 33" tires

I was at 17.8 overall for just under 1000 miles but I took the truck in to get a rain sensor added and apparently they let the truck idle extensively so now its down to 17.6. Mine is a 2wd regular cab.

Last Titan, 2009 4X4 crew cab, best ever was 13. New 2017 2wheel drive crew cab averaging 15.5, in town and 18+ on the hwy. that's just two weeks of ownership and right at 500 miles. I'm more than pleased so far, so much better than the first gen.

I have 11.7 currently. 919 miles so far. I have progressive snapshot so I don't drive it hard or anything like that. About 20 min stop and go traffic to and from work. Pretty disappointed but hopeful it'll improve as it gets seasoned.

Side note, I hated that damn snapshot.

Oh I friggin despise it. Run a yellow light or complete a "hard stop?" "DISCOUNT IT IS!!" That is my life currently. May can't come soon enough.
