Re: Gauges ALL DEAD!!!

I try to read most of the posts, and yours is a new problem that I never saw discussed before. My guess would be a blown fuse, but have no idea why it blew.

Re: Gauges ALL DEAD!!!

I did check all the fuses and they looked good. I didnt however check the ones under the hood. Are there any under the hood that may be linked to it?

Re: Gauges ALL DEAD!!!

I don’t know if this helps or not but when I was doing my radio install as I was setting things up with the stereo on but not the ignition, it drained my battery pretty quick and when I went to start the truck my gauges went crazy - like negative readings and needles bouncing around - you might check out your battery.
Also if you have anything plugged into your ODBII plug you should unplug that.

Just some ideas, hope you get it worked out, be sure to let us know what the problem turns out to be.

Steve
Can you explain how this would cause the failure?

Re: Gauges ALL DEAD!!!

I just went through a fuse quest. There are three more rows in boxes behind the battery. One is hidden. In the big rear most box, you must un-clip the white plastic circuit board and pull it straight up to see another row of fuses in the middle.

Re: Gauges ALL DEAD!!!

Did not have the exact problem, but dash indicators would all go on and the traction control light would stay on. Had it into the dealers, for the brake etrofit and told them to check it out. They said if the brake fluid gets low it will cause strange things. Hard to believe, but have not had a problem since.

Re: Gauges ALL DEAD!!!

The manual calls out fuses 4, 14, & 19. Looks like the panel next to the glove box.

There is a self-test:

Turn ignition switch ON, while holding Odometer/Trip switch for 5-8 seconds. If the test is working, the odo meter will display tESt. Looks like pushing the button will advance to a new test. There appear to be a hundred of them getting data from each sensor. I think the first few just check the panel.

Re: Gauges ALL DEAD!!!

The Unified Meter Board might have gone bad. Warranty, Warranty, Warranty.

Re: Gauges ALL DEAD!!!

All I did to fix it, was disconnect the battery and hook it back up. No I have a code. It's 2000... Anyone know what it is?

Re: Gauges ALL DEAD!!!

I'd do the dash test. While holding the trip reset button, turn the key to the ON position. This will go through a series of tests. Can't hurt to try it.
