4WD warning light came on this weekend when driving to the next town over. I didnt have it in 4x4 nor has it been in 4x4 in about 2 months. Used the search first, but there didnt seem to be any instances with this light coming on when not trying to be in 4x4. I am just wondering if there are any courses of action other than a trip to the dealer. Asking this 'cuz the closest Nissan dealer is ~75 miles away. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. helomech. I am reasonably mechanically inclined, but electrical on a new vehicle I will stear clear of. Got an appointment with the dealer on Friday, hopefully its just a sensor or relay that shorted. Thats what warranty is there for I guess.
Thanks again.
No problem glad to help. I wish the wiring diagrams were better in the service manual. I am used to looking at aircraft wiring diagrams and those are very good.
Yeah, I kinda thought there would be some in mine too..
I thought wrong.
Holy Sh*t! I just read your thread about that. I will be checking that after work today. Havent seen anything in the driveway to indicate a leak, definitely gunna check it out for myself thou. Thanks for the heads-up.
Quick update on the 4WD warning light. Turns out the actuator that changes from 4x2 to 4x4 has a connection problem and there isnt any damage to the drivetrain. Dealer ordered a new actuator and it should be replaced at the end of this week. I havent read of anything like this on the forums before so I am thinking it is a fluke repair and not something to worry about.
Now instead of spending all my money on gas to the dealer I can get some mods on the truck!
As you can see from the date on my first post, this problem has taken a while to be remedied. On monday I finally got my 4WD actuator installed. Had it up there once prior, but they ordered the wrong part (computer instead of actuator) Kinda pissed I had to wait for an hour for them to tell me it was the wrong part , but what ya gunna do but b**ch and moan. An easy fix under warranty, so just a heads up if anything like this happens to anyone else.
Had a vibration checked too that comes around at 45-50 mph. They checked all the driveline bolts and took it for a spin with a "scope". Everything checked out. Tires are flatspotted from the five months on a dealer lot... just a wear in thing I guess.
