So who gets a loaner?

Who all gets a free loaner from Nissan while their vehicle is in for warranty work?

When I took my truck in for the brake recall work, I was told I would have to pay for a rental, that Nissan did not provide loaners. Since I figured this was a bunch of B.S., I immediately called the 2 other Nissan dealers in my area, who told me the same thing!

I sent Nissan an email, and got the same response from them, that they "do not currently provide loaner vehicles for any work or repair". It seams I've read some people here are getting loaners, which is surprising to me! It's may be a minor thing, but I've owned 1 Ford, 1 Dodge, and 10 GM products, all of which gave me loaner vehicles when in for warranty work. It's not exactly easy for me to get a ride from and back to a dealership, and I'm too stuborn to pay when I don't think I should have to!

Re: So who gets a loaner?

If you have the extended warranty, it allows for a loaner. Otherwise, it is up to the individual dealers as to whether or not they will supply you with a loaner.

Re: So who gets a loaner?

my dealership will give one if the work takes longer than a day. And I think if you have a LE they give you a comparble vehicle, my truck was in once and took 2 days. Got a loaner and it was some little chevy car.

Re: So who gets a loaner?

I have the gold prefered warranty, and they gave me a Z-71 for a loaner when they were changing my rear end. They didn't want to, but when I went talk to the salesman that sold me the truck he went and got the Z-71 off the used car lot. He told me to keep it as long as I needed.

Re: So who gets a loaner?

I don't have any extra warranty coverage, but the dealer I bought from gives me an old sentra for short jobs, setup and paid for small car rental 2 times I had the diff replaced. The dealer close to me (I did not buy there) will not give me a loaner.

I've read here that there is a budget for customer service and the individual dealerships decide if any of that cash will go for loaners.

Re: So who gets a loaner?

When I had the final brake fix on my previous Titan, The dealer actually drove me to enterprise and paid for a loaner. It was a New Hemi Durango, And that thing actually impressed me alot more than My buddies Hemi Ram. It was one quick SUV. But, I do think it has something to do with the extended warranty.

Re: So who gets a loaner?

When i had warrenty done, they gave me a coupon for enterprise, too bad it was only for $22 (which would only cover an AVEO!). Luckly i talked them into a sentra.

Re: So who gets a loaner?

I have an LE and it doesn't do anything for me! I don't have an extended warranty, and wouldn't think that would be the only way to get one. I guess I was just spoiled by all my GM vehicles. Really felt bad for an elderly couple there that was told the same thing, they were having warranty work done on a sentra or something. I guess loaners aren't in the budget for any of the dealerships in my area since I've called them all.

I've got the extended warranty, I get a Sentra for a loaner. A 350Z would be nice!

Re: So who gets a loaner?

I ended up buying a '96 Sentra to drive while my truck is in the shop. They do not supply a loaner but when you yell loud enough in the show room with potential buyers around they will pull you aside and try anything to get you to be quiet. I am glad I bought it. It gets 31 mpg around town. That is all I need to go to work most days. I would still have the beast (when not in the shop) for those times I need to use a truck or wanted to know what real horsepower felt like.

Re: So who gets a loaner?

you will have better luck getting a loaner if you are servicing the vehicle at the same place where you bought it. or unless you have provisions in your warranty for it.

Re: So who gets a loaner?

I have an extended service warranty (Securenet) and they allow for a 2 day rental for free...BUT here is where my question comes in.

After you turn in the rental vehicle, does the dealer have the right to hold your repaired vehicle from you (including signing the invoice after repairs are completed) until the extended service contract people pay the dealership for the rental?

(and no...the dealer i'm having the problem is not Southpoint...its San Marcos Nissan)

Re: So who gets a loaner?

When my truck went into the dealer for the brakes 4 times total...I got to...sit in a brand new...seat in the waiting room. I have yet to find a dealer in N. Cal that will give you a loaner. This is my third Nissan in 3 years and nothing. I called Infiniti to see if they could help and they just laughed. The Truck is an 2004 LE the cars are 2003 350 & 2003.5 G35 sedan. Nissan could careless but Toytao would have bentover backwards for a threepete customer. Thanks Nissan for lack of customer service/care.
