warranty coverage for new rear end?

i haven't found much by searching. last weekend i blew out my rear end on my 05 kc bt w/ eloc. i have the pc 6in lift w/ 35's. i'm going to put stock tires and wheels back on for tomorrow when i take it to the dealer. will they replace it under my 5yr/60000 powertrain warranty? or will they say it was the lift's fault? the lift changes nothing w/in the differential. but i'm sure they will give me a hard time. and if they aren't fix it under warranty, what does a trutrac go for and how hard it the install? thanks in advance.

they will fix, they have to prove that lift caused the failure. That would be hard to prove IMO.

look up the magnuson moss act, print it out and throw it in their faces if they give you any trouble. they know the rear ends have problems in the titans. they should fix it no problem. they sell titans lifted from the dealer so throw that at em too. Your lift is the same as the "no fear" lift that comes on the titans from the factory. so they shouldnt give you any problems. where do you live? If you are in so cal, try performance nissan. they always take care of me when I have problems. theyre doing the cam bolt tsb on my truck even though Im lifted.

Re: warranty coverage for new rear end?

Collect as many threads and replies about rear end failures on this and other forums and then you'll have plenty of ammo on your side of the argument.
They won't be able to say rear end failures almost never happen on a Titan.

Just walk in to the service writer and speak nicely to him, not with a chip on your shoulder. It's amazing how many times people go in and instantly put them on the defensive. This way if it doesn't go your way, you can go up the chain of command without an attitude preceding you.

As a nissan warranty admin this should not be a problem. We know there is a problem.

Re: warranty coverage for new rear end?

Keep in mind they do offer the "No Fear" Titan which is lifted. If lift would cause a problem you can alway say it's no different than what they sell. Austin got his rear end replace and he had a lift, his dealer were not a hole I guess.

Re: warranty coverage for new rear end?

dealer called this morning and when i told him what happened he said that the lift shouldn't have affected that failure. so we were off to a good start. he just called a few minutes ago to tell me the fix is to replace the whole rear axle assembly. he has to get it approved through nissan cause the dollar amount is so high. he had no idea how long it will take to get in the parts cause they haven't done a fix like this at their shop yet. anyone know how long it will take? will nissan give me a rental for the whole time my truck is down?

Re: warranty coverage for new rear end?

We have done several rear end replacements here at my shop lifted or not. lifts do not affect the rear end internally. you should have no problem. the rear end replacement takes a day to do when the part is in, usually 2-3 days to get to the dealer if they are not on backorder and yes they will give you a rental for as long as the titan is down. Hope this helps.
