I have only owned the truck for two weeks - 2004 titan but the darn check engine light continues to come on despite the dealer telling me nothing is wrong. They reset it and within a couple of days it comes on again. I know about the gas cap issue but it happens well after I fuel the truck. Anyone have any suggestions!! Is this covered under warrenty or has there been a recall in the past? Any help would be wecolmed.
No. They said the problem was the gas cap but its on as tight as I could crank it. They put it back on last time and the light came on again a day and a half later. Thanks for replying.

Definitely go to the service manager, forget the idiots that write it up, and have him walk you in to view them run the diagnostics on it, so you can see exactly what code it is and if it is the gas cap, then they must replace it (smog thing as well). Good luck with the final sollution. If you want to learn how to reset your own ECU to see if it will take, read and print these instructions, very helpful.
It might be a good time to buy a locking gas cap and see if that takes care of the problem. I'm using a Stant locking cap for 7 months now with no problems. If that light comes back on after that, then you know it's not the cap, but you can feel more secure about anyone accessing your fuel tank.
