Bad Seal, Is It Covered???

I have a leaking front xfer case axel seal. I have 40,000 miles. Is this covered by the powertrain warranty?

Re: Bad Seal, Is It Covered???

In my opinion, YES, it should be covered. My definition of the drivetrain is any of the components that affect or are associated with putting the vehicle in motion. Basically everything from the front hubs/axles/front diff., front driveshaft, transfer case, rear driveshaft/diff/axles, transmission and engine. Not sure where the CV/Universal Joints fall?

Is that a correct definition? Who knows?

I think it is covered also. I had a seal replaced on the front differential after 40K.

Re: Bad Seal, Is It Covered???

It's probably covered. Nissan is usually pretty good service wise.

Be glad you don't own a Ford. We put my wife's Expedition in for service because the power steering pump was leaking. We then got hit with a repair bill for a couple of hundred bucks because the source of the leak was one of the clamps that held a hose on the pump. Ford's position: The pump is covered, the clamps are not. And that is with their top of the line service warranty. I've already told my wife: "No more Fords in our driveway".

Re: Bad Seal, Is It Covered???

The drive train after the tranny is not reliable at all on the Titans period. Sorry Nissan you have terrible axles, vents, etc.....these are major $$ to be repaired. After my warranty is up and I have beat this truck to a pulp I''m test driving the Tundra.

What a crock! The pump is covered, the p/s hoses are covered, the mounting brackets are covered. And the ONE and only ONE crimp clamp on the entire system that secures the p/s return hose to the pump nipple isn't covered?

You got "hosed!"

Re: Bad Seal, Is It Covered???

Here's the deal with warranty parts which I did not realize until my Titan had to have the front seals replaced. When the dealer looks up the part # they have a letter associated with the #. A "P" for instance in the part# would denote that it is covered by the powertrain warranty. Sometimes there catalogs are screwed up an the letter is not there. Point is if you believe something should be covered under warranty, and the dealer tells you its not it's not always them trying to screw you.
