extended warranty? should i?

my 2004 titan has 24000 miles on it. I purchased it in June 2004. My 3 year/36000 mile manufacturer warranty will probably run out June 2007. It looks like the time limitation will get me before the mileage.

I did not purchase an extended warranty when i purchased my truck. I expect to keep this truck until the wheels fall off.

Do you think it is advisable for me to purchase an extended warranty now for this truck? What concerns me is that this is a first-run edition of the Titan that I have. I don't know how the trucks hold up long term and I don't want to get hit with a lot of repair costs after the factory warranty goes out.

My truck has been at the dealership twice. My SES light came on and it was found that the "vapor canister" or something like that on my fuel tank assembly was leaking. It was changed and no problems since them. Second visit was to replace my front brake assembly. I did not experience judder but my pads were wearing pretty quick. Those are the only problems i have experienced.

Be careful, always read the fine print, and ask for a list of what's covered and what's NOT covered.

I agree!! Read the all the information about the warranty and what it covers. Negotiate the price, the dealership is usually making a good profit off the warranties.

I was able to purchase a Nissan Gold 60 month 100,000 mile waranty for $1050. The price goes up as the truck gets older but try to not let them hose you on it. The warranty cost the dealer approx. $950. They showed me receipts in the book for $2000 for the same policy.

i would get it only if there is a reasonable list of whats covered. when the truck gets alot of miles on it a number of things can go wrong, i wouldnt want to get stuck having to pay for expensive repair costs when it could be covered under the warranty.

I recieved an extended warranty with the truck when I purchased it. I am considering cashing it in. As I read the fine print, Nissan is not required to honor the warranty unless you can prove that you had every service done on time to their standards.

I am pretty good at doing preventive maintenance on my vehicles, but I wonder just how good I will be at keeping every oil change record for the next six years, or if Nissan will accept oil and filter reciepts for an oil change that I did myself. The dealer is making a lot of profit on these extended warranties, so if you can afford it, it may be better to self insure. It is rather like betting against the house in Vegas to buy one.

I had bought an extended warranty for a cherokee that I had and man it was worth it's value times three. I never had any problems getting things fixed with it. I bought the extended warranty for a frontier that I just traded in for the big Titan

I would get it but thats just my opinion.
